I'm playing this on Windows 10. I'm not sure if this will download and work the same, but I can tell you how I downloaded it.

The discs no longer work, sadly as I do still have my original ones, but if you Google 'The Sims 1 Complete Collection download,' you will find a website called Internet Archive. I downloaded the RAR file and followed the instructions. I also used 7-Zip to extract the file. Hopefully, this is helpful. I believe my Roomies 1 episode has the comments where I helped someone else to download.

They really are, and there is nothing to make them happy when they are the only pet. I don't remember them being this annoying when I was a kid. 🙃

Edit: I assume you're trying to keep with the more realistic gameplay so you aren't using Bonehilda for free maid? + I think one of the dishwashers has a trash compartment which I remember being easier for trash BUT that may just be my wishful thinking and the trashcan is just as good/bad.
