It would be much better if the wheels could be original.

What are your front seats out of?

Those are third row seats from GMC Yukon Denali. Picked them up free from a job I was inspecting. They fit perfect! Could not believe it when I test fitted them. Welded up some square stock and bolted them in. Very comfortable!

Correction third row seats from Cadillac Escalade. We used to have a Yukon Denali. I would imagine any GMC large SUV 3rd row seats would work.

Funny story on the seats. I was doing a home inspection and the owners of the home were throwing away the third row seats from their Escalade. So I picked them up for free, welded in some seat brackets and connected with some grade 8 bolts. I could not believe how well they fit and free never hurts a low budget project.

I did this in 1972 with only a.knife and a.canteen. still one of the best memories of my time.in scouting. Ten years later I was teaching these skills to US Marines.

Hi, we just bought a 1969 AvionT-28. I'm going to pressure was it as soon as we get it home. This one has the twin beds, that's what my wife wanted. Needs floor redone, window left open in bathroom, also has a gap in the main door and frame. It's been sitting up on railroad ties for the last ten years. Nice job on your restore.

I just bought a 1964 Avion....yours is in much better shape. How did you clean the outside....mine was left sitting under a tree for 20 years! We're having to replace parts of the rotted floor because a window was left open. The furniture is in fair shape. I'm going with a teal décor color also! I have two twin beds in the middle, with bunks! It looks factory installed too. Never saw one with bunks before and I had to have it for my grandkids. You've got a real nice looking camper there!

Thanks for the nice post! The outside is a slow grind taking one small section at a time. Take your time and enjoy the process. Try different cleaning solutions and lots of hot water. Let me know how it goes. John

I k I did this a year ago and my troop only gave us permission to use our knife clothes and a Flint and steel. assuming you have fireman and totin chip. these guys got rope and food. our first/second years who failed at building a shelter just slept in the open.

Not to brag but ours was way harder; we were seperated into groups, only allowed to use 1 bolo per group, each group can only use 3 matches. The weather made it more harder, we were on top of a rainforest. It rains like, every 30 minuets or so. And its hard to start a fire, we dont wanna lose our matches.

Wow, not ONE comment on this video? That's bs. Scouts sure have changed since I was in it for a little bit, but that was about 50 years or so ago. All this gear the kids have, the food being eaten and their fuel tablet stoves.....didn't have any of that. The majority of us didn't have a lot of money, but the scout master scrounged up some dehydrated milk cans for us that (I think) were about 2' or so long and about 12" high and wide. Had us make boards for the frame and some rope with strips of foam rubber for harnesses. Cooking utensils? What ever was the smallest pot or pan Mom would let me take for our over nighters. (And DON'T lose my silverware, you hear me?) Think most of us had the old G.I. canteen, sometimes with the cup thing. Need more water? Get it out of the nearby stream. No Sawyer water filter, boiling it. And us kids loved every minute of it. Thanks for the video and bringing back memories.
