These clowns will go to a 2 yard. They'll act hard as new fish security guards and most will quit just being on these bottom low level 2 yards. They'll get checked or suck enough ass to go to a higher yard where they think they can still act like they did with the 2 yard inmates and quit out of fear or intimidation. They rotate these new recruits constantly. Most higher yards have guards who have been around for a while

I have done a total of 25 years in both state and federal prison. 90 percent of the guards couldn't fight off a cold. Couldn't walk a mile let alone run one. Half of them have the mental maturity of a 12 year old.

Worked at Holmesburg Prison before closed. We had 120 inmates on a block to 2 officers. Inmates were out amongst you, block was a football field long. When on tour, your partner, hopefully a good one, didn't get distracted and watched you tour. All we had was a whistle. No pepper spray back then. You needed to know how to fight for real.

At the time this video was posted, ADC was under the leadership of Charles L. Ryan the most corrupt and incompetent director that this department has ever seen. This academy by no means provides effective training to these cadets. To begin with, ADC has a massive amounts of policies and procedure by which most are broad, vague and contradict one another. So, with the little time these cadets spend in the academy, none know these policies and procedures, By they time they hit a yard, two weeks of on the job training and their on own dealing with the politics of ignorant and uneducated correctional officers as well as supervisory correctional officers. Most quit not wanting to deal with the politics and the expectation of tow the company line.

Yeah, I saw the salary, and honestly it's so little. 😅 Especially for the fact that you're risking a lot. In today's cost of living it's honestly laughable. That's enough to get by. Barely... and if you don't have kids.

A corrections officer is a law enforcement officer. Their jurisdiction is just the jail/prison. C/O's will learn law regarding their jurisdiction, the jail, and handling inmates. You probably won't receive city/county/state law training as a C/O, but hands on experience with generally not happy people translates over to other LEO paths

I'm a CO in Québec. I work for the Québec provincial département of corrections. We make 78,000$ a year. If you work night shifts, you get a bonus of 10,000$. That's what I do. And I can work overtime as much as I want. In average, every 2 weeks I get 3,000$ after déductions.

Unforntuantely...Arizona correctional officers are not 1. peace officers 2. do not fall under LEOSA so can't carry weapon in all 50 states 3. pays incredibly low. Its a great stepping stone to get into other law enforcement agencies though.

25 push ups, 30 sit ups, 3 laps around the big ass field in 2 minutes... no breaks in between and if you fail any then its right out the door. Thats what i had to go through when i was doing my physical fitness exam. But it gets 10× worst when you're actually in training school. Jamaican prison officer training is no joke at all but im proud to say that i made it through it all.

No respect for corrections training offices. Most all training offices where officers that could not cut it working behind the wall with inmates. Which also means those officers are politically connected.
