I just checked and it looks like they're out of the one I got, which is the 1000 gram. The $42 one is 3000 grams. I think the original resincrete (30 min demold) is going for around $15 on Amazon now though. They all change price and availability so often it's hard to keep track.

Interesting i can probably buy that eco resin and use it on my counter tops im making a wooden table for my kitchen and was thinking about using white acrylic and a sealer to finish it but may be i might u this i was going do epoxy resin but it kinda expensive

I use yobtop deep pour epoxy resin, works better than let's resin does. Why I don't know 🤷♂️

Thank you. I've seen this product but never tried it. I usually use Magic Powder by Let's Resin which is a good product but next time I order I'll give Yobtop a try. Especially because I like I like my casting powder to be white. I hate it when they're brown or grey because it's harder to color them. Great job. 👍

Watched all the videos and found them very informative and a good refresher course. I’ve been in the resin and resincrete hobby for a few months and beforehand I watched every beginner resin and resincrete video I can find before investing. The resin hobby can be very expensive to start and maintain. You touched on many good points for the beginner resin hobbyist. I personally use Jdiction for its ease of use (1 to 1 ratio) and the clarity of the epoxy resin. 1 item not mentioned was the use of mica powder. Might be a good video for the future. Mica powder vs pigments. Worthwhile videos to watch for anyone interested in getting into the epoxy resin hobby.

Interesting to see if you found to powder the leftovers, added water will it be usable. Would like to know how resincrete vs purecure stacks up against each other. Good video thanks for trying it out.

I haven't gotten around to trying to reuse the powder yet but I imagine if it does work, it's probably substantially weaker, but I do still think it's worth trying. And I have found that resincrete and pure cure are identical, just different brands. I am working on a video comparing resincrete to mix2mold. Resincrete mixes with a 10:1 ratio and mix2mold uses a 3:1 ratio, so I'm expecting there will be some difference between the two.

It looks really nice. It's just a shame that when covering the drills with resin, they lose the sparkle from the facets. Unfortunately there is no way of avoiding this as it's just what happens. But even without the sparkle, it looks cool. All the best, Diane

You suppose to water sand the coaster in order to get the terazzo effect. You will see its beauty when you'll sand your project. Also, the smoothness of the coaster depends mainly on the mold, and how shiny it is...

Yeah I actually found that out after sanding the bottom and realized it looked a million times better! And true, the mold makes a difference, but I've used that same mold with resincrete several times and this stuff seemed a little smoother. I also had been using the 30 min demold resincrete prior to trying this stuff, which is 20 min demold, and maybe that had an effect. Or I could have got my ratios off without noticing and that had an effect. Not sure.

I can assure you, I don't like filming myself talking. I'm a very introverted person and the talking and explaining is the hardest part of these videos for me. But the whole point of my channel, especially videos like this one, is to try new things and discuss the process and how things turned out. I could have easily just shown the results but then all anybody would see is an off-white coaster with no other information like: how long it took to cure, how the alcohol affected the strength, etc. I've done several videos where I don't talk and just show the crafting, but this was an experiment and I felt it needed explanation.

@@jkakstudios You could very well do voice overs as you’re showing the results. You don’t have to be sitting in front of the camera just showing yourself while you’re talking. You could have the camera angle down at the project you’re doing while unmolding it without showing yourself that’s why I said I think you just like to show yourself talking. There are many other makers that do voiceovers while they’re showing exactly what’s going on with the project and explaining every detail, I stand my first statement

I certainly could do that. I've done most of my videos in the format of this one mainly because I don't have a proper camera, just my phone and my old phone. The old phone has become unreliable so I only use my current phone to record now. I have a mirror set up behind the forward facing tripod so I can see what the camera sees when I hold the piece closer to the camera. I've tried it with the camera on the down facing mount but it tended to be hard to focus without being able to see my screen and I've had to reshoot several videos to get it right. So it's just been easier to shoot in the format like this video. I haven't changed it because I didn't think it mattered to anyone. However, it would make things better if I can come up with a way to make your suggestion work because my forward facing tripod setup takes up too much space on my work table. Plus then I don't have to try to get all the audio right in one take, or else reshoot the video. The way you suggested makes sense, it's just been a matter of convenience to do it the way I have done. It never occurred to me that people would care one way or the other. I'm still learning the whole video shooting and editing aspect of all this, so it's all trial and error.

Mix2Mold is a new eco pour sold by Michael's. It is on sale for $15 for 5 pounds!!! It's pure white. Pretty much the same as resincrete.

If you're careful you should be able to make it work. The sticky vinyl just makes it much easier.

Some suggestions for you. Not necessary to blast bubbles, they self level. There is always a lip around the edges of the resin mold. Simply sand it down slightly. Do Not touch the inner part of the rubber mold or attach it to your guitar for size. It will create scratches and it will show on all finished resin projects.

Having just run into Mix2mold, ResinCrete, and this stuff today they sure seem a lot like magnesium phosphate cements. Ultrafine magnesium oxide, monopotassium phosphate, filler, pigment, and water which has a very short working time, is significantly exothermic (i.e. enough to melt many plastic molds), and cures in hours into a fireproof ceramic. It's an excellent cement for many purposes. Adding some milled glass fiber can increase its strength. Since the water isn't part of the final product, using "too much" increases drying/curing shrinkage and the final porosity. I wonder how much of what fillers they use? And try holding a bigger torch to it until it begins to glow...if it's a magnesium phosphate based cement, then it'll hold up just fine.

I've never had any issues where I needed to sift it. It's very fine powder and doesn't seem to clump like plaster. I always sift when I work with plaster but so far I haven't needed to sift with the pure cure or resincrete.

I got it from Amazon, but it's been unavailable for several weeks now. JDiction resincrete is the exact same thing though and there are a couple different kits available on Amazon. Same material, same quality, just different brands.

Very different. Can I ask for some help & advice please as I have a project on that needs some serious attention. I have built a new desk & I want to seal the top surface as it's made of 3/4" MDF. I've tried various types of varnish, but all of them have left the surface slightly tacky & when I put a plate of hot food or a a mug of hot drink on it, it goes even tackier (poor English I know). I'm thinking of using epoxy resin, but which one ? (or ones ???) ideally it would need to be heat resistant to at least 100C & preferably MUCH higher. The only space I have large enough to work on it is my living room so I definitely need to use a low odour one, but because I eat & drink at the desk I need to use something that is EXTREMELY heat resistant. It also needs to be self levelling, UV resistant, non-yellowing, easy for beginners (I have NO EXPERIENCE AT ALL), quick drying, not too worried about having micro-bubbles though MAYBE it would look better without bubbles but as MDF is so plain bubbles might add a little bit of interest ???? The desk top is 48" x 40" (220cm x 202cm) so I figure I need about 1,300ml per layer. I also GUESS doing multiple layers would be the best way to go rather than trying to do a deeper pour & I was thinking maybe 3 or 4 layers in total ???? Can't wait to hear what you guys suggest (& what BRAND to go for too) YES, I DO realise I'm asking for the whole world in a bottle. But as I work at, eat at, sit at, my desk for up to 16 hours a day seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, it really does need to be able to handle EVERYTHING & be hard wearing too. Oh yes, BTW, I live in Birmingham, UK so stuff that's available in the UK (from Amazon.co.uk ????) would be preferred as overseas delivery can be horrendous with in time & costs. Can you (or anyone else) please help ??

The only thing that comes to mind that ticks all those boxes would be cement lol. But the weight would obviously make that impractical. I think your best bet would probably be epoxy resin. It does yellow over time with uv contact, but if you color the resin, the yellowing will be much less visible, if visible at all. Heat resistance above 100c is a bit much for most materials, however any good epoxy resin can easily handle a hot plate of food and even a hot cup of tea or coffee as the plate or cup will insulate enough to keep the resin well below 100C/212F. There are also fumes with resin so ventilation is a must. As for brands, Teexpert and JDiction are both excellent brands and I'm certain they are easily available in the UK, as many KZfaq crafters based in UK use both brands. Though if a seamless flat surface isn't a must, you could even use ceramic tile. That would give you excellent heat resistance and no fumes to worry about.

@@jkakstudios OK, thank you for you suggestions. The issue with heat is that I eat a lot of Complete High Protein Microwave meals & to save washing up I eat them straight from the microwave pots, which, obviously, get VERY HOT (though not sure just what "VERY HOT" actually is !!!

Thanks for reviewing and sharing.PureCure is food contact safe, but to achieve actual food contact safety you also need to make sure the additions are food safe grade, which the pigments that come with it are not, so you need to add a food contact safe coating to seal it.

No smell at all once cured. As far as before and during the curing process, not a very strong smell compared to other resins. I've used some resins that can kinda stink up the room while curing but with this you don't really smell it unless you get fairly close to it.

If you break up the flaky bits you can mix it in with white or pastel colour and it comes out marbles! Makes a great effect! Also, you can seal them with modpodge, spray varnish or resin or uv resin. Or bees wax.

I like that idea! I have also been wanting to bust up some different colored cured pieces to use for a terrazzo effect in coasters and such. So far I've used uv resin and modpodge to seal. Both seem to work great.

I've found that mod podge and uv resin work great. I especially like using matte mod podge to preserve the stony look without being too shiny.

Never tried it but I may have to look into it. Always looking for new things. I mainly only use my plaster of Paris to make homemade gesso, which works quite well.

There are no chemical additives, but a combination of calcium salts processed by several different processes to achieve stronger results.
