Nigel, this was very interesting, and I learned quite a lot actually. Accidents happen, and I was shouting 'Oh No' at the screen as I watched. I have a cat visitor from a neighbour, who likes to try and catch birds, but ends up scattering ballast everywhere in his failed attempts and the birds outwit him. haha I too have water gun, that I can use from the bedroom window when he thinks I am not there

Driver claimed that it was the regulator not closing fully but examination of the footage clearly shows it being opened wide prior to the train clearing the facing points. His punishment is yet to be determined but is likely to involve milk churns

Steamers are lovely! How about a bit of detail on them, Nigel? Coal fired, meths fired etc. I know nothing about Accucraft or anything else in this line. PS big band music is my pet hate... Sorry!
@FeckHallBahn
@FeckHallBahn 6 күн бұрын
Sorry about the big band music!! I didn’t get to do very much during my career; not much work for french horns in the repertoire. I did audition for the James Last orchestra once though. There will be detail about all the fleet in my ‘Fleet Focus’ series. I haven’t committed to dates for these yet as both the weather and my health are a bit unpredictable. I’ve only done the railcar so far; No. 2, Judy, is next. Polly is my first live steamer at No. 14. All my live steam locos are gas fired and all except the Mamod are radio controlled.

I've never heard of a siding camera. Do you see any other birds near the railway, like the Blue Tit for example?
@FeckHallBahn
@FeckHallBahn 11 күн бұрын
It’s only called siding camera because that’s where I put it this week; it’s a small motion sensitive wildlife camera. We get the full range of suburban birds including all the tits (except coal tits). It’s very unlikely that you would see a blue tit near the railway as they aren’t ground feeders or insectivorous (the hedge sparrows in the video are eating woodlice and earwigs). We get lots of blue tits, great tits and long tailed tits on the cherry tree and on the various bird feeders.

I seem to remember a small orange/yellow electric-powered steamer (Dougal?) having some trouble over a set of points. Was that really last year? 🤯 My own railway so far is just a simple loop, but I'm starting to feel like that's pointless!
@FeckHallBahn

That was indeed Dougal! PDF Quarry Hunslet with fine scale wheels. Raising the check rail fixed the derailment issue but not the curtsey (apparently curtsy is ok too!!). You need some points!!

All of the ones with fine scale wheels Kelly. Not quite so apparent with the live steam locos as they have larger diameter wheels and it’s not a problem with the two Regners as they were designed for this type of track.
