I’ve seen a KZfaqr who is a firefighter for Air Force and she said she was doing emails most of the time. What are those emails that you have to check ?
@positivitytravels
@positivitytravels Ай бұрын
She probably meant that there wasn’t a ton of “firefighting” things to do, but more paperwork, logistics, or emails to read. Emails can be serious or small things you have to complete pertaining to your job or anything in the Air Force.

I’m 31 with a bachelors degree and want to be a career firefighter. At this age would it be wise for me to enlist to be a ff in the af or should I just apply to the local fire departments? I like to travel so I was entertaining the idea of being a civilian DoD firefighter. Do you know any DoD firefighters? How do they like it?
@positivitytravels
@positivitytravels 2 ай бұрын
I knew a bunch of DoD firefighters and they absolutely love it over being enlisted. You have a bachelors too so you’d be deemed more valuable and the military would want you to commission to be an officer. They unfortunately don’t have firefighter jobs for officers. To answer your question though, I heard civilian DoD is legit, especially if you get an overseas contract.

Hey! I’m a jr in high school and I really really want this job after I graduate. I’m taking the asvab next week but when I talk to a recruiter do you have any tips on how to get this job? I always here that it’s super hard to get fire protection and that the recruiters will tell you that it isn’t available all the time.
@positivitytravels
@positivitytravels 2 жыл бұрын
Hey! That’s awesome you’re getting started right now! Let them know you’re very interested in joining the Air Force but will only sign a contract for a firefighting job. You may have to wait... like a long time until a job opens up, but it’ll be worth it. So proceed through Meps, but don’t settle for any other job!! It depends if it’s hard to get or not. It’s really on what the Air Force needs at the time you’re getting recruited. Be honest with your recruiter. Hopefully they will be a good recruiter who legit cares and helps their people. Some do lie but do your research, ask questions, and you’ll be fine.

Hello! I hope you see this! First of all I wanna start by saying, you must’ve had an amazing recruiter! My husband.. wasn’t so lucky. He rushed him to go in open general even though he wanted to do fire protection. He does maintenance management analysis, which isn’t a bad job at all. It’s a desk job which he is not very fond of. He wants to cross train when he’s able to, but when he mentioned it in his office, someone told him that they are no longer taking Active duty airmen, that they are only taking ANG or civilians for fire protections. Is that true?
@positivitytravels
@positivitytravels 3 жыл бұрын
That’s crazy. I know it is tough to get a slot for fire protection but I don’t think they aren’t taking active duty airmen anymore. That wouldn’t make sense. The best thing to do would be to talk to a recruiter. What I did was talk to multiple recruiters at once to make sure everything was true and lining up. I was blessed with a good recruiter though. Unlike some of my friend who was also rushed in as open general. When your husband is able to cross train, DO IT! Like ASAP! 🤙🏽 Maybe the recruiter meant there weren’t any slots open at the moment. All I can say is talk to multiple people, keep pressing, and it’ll come eventually. I hope everything goes well!!!

So maybe you two could message each other on the Air Force IM & give him any advice on like things to volunteer for to be noticed by the fire protection squadron. If you don’t feel comfortable I completely understand. I just want him to be happy, especially because hes trying to do this for the full 20. If you want to have the firefighter experience, I’d suggest going Air Force. If you go Navy, everyone is pretty much a “firefighter”. They’re expected to put out the fire on a ship if something happens. They do have fire stations but it doesn’t work the same as other branches.

That’s awesome! With this job we work shifts. 24 hours at the fire station, and 24 hours off or away from the station. A straight forward answer would be every other day. BUT, this job has after hours or down time. Meaning, during your shift, after work is complete, your family is more than welcome to visit you at work to have dinner, play games, watch movies, and spend time with you. You will still have to respond to emergencies so your family will be just waiting at the station for you to return, but overall, you’ll see your family everyday if they come to the station to see you at work.
