I’ve got one of those that came to me from my mother’s uncle when he passed in 1950. It came chambered in 250-3000 and has the quarter twist take down which is a little sloppy, I’ve never sighted it to see how this affects accuracy.

I'm doing a build with the 72v 3000w motor. There have been complaints of the motor overheating and then dying. My guess is the lithium batteries that people use is making them faster, but the high discharge is causing the motor to overheat. Some people are enlarging the holes on both ends of the motor. This works well if it has a built-in fan, but from what I've seen the 3000w motor doesn't have a fan ( strange I know). I'm planning on using a 100mm 12v Seaflo in line boat fan with a electric bike 72v to 12v step down transformer (perhaps with 4" k&n filter on the end to keep dust out).
@CJs_DIY
@CJs_DIY 7 ай бұрын
To me the 3000w motor is the same as the 1800 w motor. It’s almost as if they just took the same motor and hooked it up to a larger controller. I am looking into QS 138 as I think it’s a better fit for most of my project ideas
@Mickparrysstepdad
@Mickparrysstepdad 7 ай бұрын
@@CJs_DIY Interesting. In KZfaq videos I've seen lower wattage motors have a fan inside the case, but I don't know if that's all of them. Apparently there's no room for a fan with the 3000w version because the case size stays the same with all models. I'd like a QS motor but the price is a bit high for me. Even the recommended controllers for a QS motor costs quite a bit :(

one of the first things I add to every trailer, welder or not, is 12v LED lights so I can see at night. I use pipe to make a base and just another smaller size to fit in it so that the light can turn, they swivel on their own supplied base that I attache to the pipe stand. having lights at night is imperative. the ones I use also double for another pass-time, fishing. its a big thing on the Gulf Coast to fish at night under lights from docks, bridges, piers, etc. The LED lights work fantastic and dont use much juice at all, this means you can run 100's of feet of extension cords to light them up.

I heard when u wire it in reverse it doesn't have the same rpm and torque?
@CJs_DIY
@CJs_DIY Жыл бұрын
there are two windings in this motor. a larger winding and a smaller winding. This is what gives the motor the three speeds. full speed runs electricity through both windings.medium speed runs power through the larger of the two windings and low speed runs power through the smaller winding. for whatever reason the motor controller's reverse does not run through both windings making it have significantly less torque and speed. this could possibly be fixed by someone with more knowledge than myself but I have not yet figured out how to solve this problem with changing wirings etc.

@CJs_DIY
@CJs_DIY 2 жыл бұрын
The only solution I have would be to mount it the opposite way which probably isn’t possible on a bike. For whatever reason reverse is set to low speed on these things. Did you change the sensor cables when you changed the 3 power cables? If not I would try that. If you just change the three power wires going into the motor the sensor cables won’t be coordinating motor position properly. ??? Let me know if you figure this one out. I will possibly put a controller on a bench and see if I can get it to work.

If your trying to get the low speed to give more torque it won’t work. It’s the exact same as going half throttle.
