Hi. I have my Nano still with a Thruster Setup. What Fins do you use for your Quad ? I think about buying the K4 Scorchers. I dont have enough experience.
@kev-the-windsurfer.Ай бұрын
I just use the stock Severne fins, when I need more lift I have a set of Black Project fins, 16 for the two mains and 11 for the thrusters.
@Clint_Moto34Ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing! What do you say to the thruster debate. Is it really that bad and should i buy the quad for my new nano ?
@kev-the-windsurfer.Ай бұрын
I think it depends on the board and your personal preference. The Nano definitely works better as a quad, my Dyno and the Kode work well as thrusters. I like the feel of thrusters on the boards I have, the Nano being a quad is difficult to compare as the board is so different from the others, but I can say i definitely like thrusters, can't imagine life without them...

Thank you for your Content. How do you compare the Dyno and Pyro? Which one do you like more ?
@kev-the-windsurfer.Ай бұрын
They are different boards for different conditions, I have only sailed a Pyro once but it was excellent in the waves whereas the Dyno is not, its more of a bump and jump board....I wouldn't buy a Dyno again, my focus is more wave riding now, so I would take the Pyro.....

Hi, good video, I want to buy that board, I really like it.... How about the build quality, that's the only thing that worries me, is it the Wood sandwich model? Thank you very much
@kev-the-windsurfer.Ай бұрын
This board is a 2019 Kode, quite different to the new ones. I do like it, its my light /medium wind board. All these modern production boards are fragile, I have had to have this one repaired a few times. I have given up on production boards now as this is the third board I have broken in 3 years, although this one could be repaired..... But it does depend on how you sail, I like jumping and I do a lot of it so that is also a factor. If you never jumped the board it would last a lot longer but where's the fun in that...

@kev-the-windsurfer.3 ай бұрын
I've had this board for a few years now, its smaller volume at 94L than the 105 Dyno, its more agile and better in the waves, so I'm using it as much as possible to dial myself into it for when I go back down to the Taranaki for wave riding..

This is great - looking back at your Dyno 105 videos, you seem to be moving much faster with that set up as oppose to the Nano. The jumps in this vdeo look fab.
@kev-the-windsurfer.4 ай бұрын
Yes the Dyno is a faster board, parallel rails and so forth its very much a freewave, the Nano is full on wave with a lot of tail kick so its slower to get on the plane and doesn't really stay there unless fully powered, the Dyno is not that agile on the wave though.....They both have their place, I much prefer the Nano once I'm on a wave, but there are days where you need the float and the speed to even get on a wave so the Dyno is quite useful on those days......

What was the main difference here than in the conditions you use the Dyno 105?
@kev-the-windsurfer.5 ай бұрын
Pretty much my skill level, Dyno is great for learning to wave ride on, but it gets to a point where you need to advance on the wave, so a different board is required. I will probably get rid of the Nano, it is a great board on the wave, but its a bit too sluggish, slow accelerating. Since I sail in Taranaki most of the time I think I will get a Carbon Art board, locally made.

Hey Kev, what was the wind strength when you first went out with the 5.3? Do you ever use bigger sails with the 85L? Just put a deposit on an 85V3 and keen to understand its wind range. I am 70kgs. Cheers, Dave
@kev-the-windsurfer.6 ай бұрын
I can't remember, it was a couple of years ago now, I'm 80-82kg range, and I found the 5.3 was a bit too big for the 85L, the sweet spot was the 4.7. I'm usually on the 5.3 in 18-22knts, 20-25 is a 4.7.....Hope that helps... At this stage I was still finding my feet after a 25 year break, it funny looking back at this now....

@@davidhowarth6968 I've changed things around a bit since then, I have a 105 V3 Dyno as my big board (I use it in the waves a lot), since I do a lot of wave sailing, I have a 92 Nano, if the 105 is too much and I dont want the full on wave board I have 94 Kode (2019) which is a good frre-wave option. Hi Kev, fun day!! How did you rate the Dyno versus the Nano in those conditions and what drove the change of board? Looks like an awesome day out once again!!
@kev-the-windsurfer.7 ай бұрын
Can't really compare the two boards, very different setups for different conditions. The Nano is a proper wave board its super stable and compliant in nuking conditions, but its not early planing and it doesn't go to windward that well in marginal conditions, but when its super nuking, its quite controllable... I took the bigger sail and the Dyno in the arvo because it was no longer blowing 40 knots, it eased off a lot and I knew if the wind switched off and i was on the Dyno I would be able to get out of trouble. But I do prefer the Nano on the wave, I should have had that at Pungas!!
@chris.perry_windsurfing7 ай бұрын
….see what you mean about swapping to the 92 when it’s nuking 🤙🏻
@kev-the-windsurfer.7 ай бұрын
What is interesting is the Nano 92 sounds like a big-ish board, but in actual fact, its super small and is somehow very compliant in all that ridiculous chop. It was actually a feat to be able to mange any sort of a turn on a wave as I was so overpowered on that 3.7, turning to go down the line was terrifying!! But also a great feeling!!
