Viserys and Rhaenyra have a discussion about bastards and reputation. About the image that House Targaryen is suposed to represent. And that is unity and legitimacy. However, Rhaenyra DOES makes a valid point; if she were born male, she could have upteen bastards and no one would bat an eye. It is because medieval men are not held to the same standard of rules that women are. After Aegon's birth, Rhaenyra’s place as heir is shakey because if there is one thing, a crumb, that pops up and can be used against her, it WILL happen! They will seek to ruin her reputation to prove that she, a princess, cannot rule and Aegon is the obvious choice. I don’t think it’s as simple as Alicient being jealous. She doesn’t come off as jealous per se at the beginning, although how can she not be? But she is still a good friend to Rhaenyra at this point … she tries to make Rhaenyra see how lucky she is to have the choices she has… choices that no other women in the kingdom have. She tries to help her find a good partner. Rhaenyra’s father broke the system for her. Alicient’s father sold her at a young age and now she’s trapped. The problem isn’t that Alicient is jealous. It’s that a young Rhaenyra seems blind to her own privileges and choices, and complains of them to someone who had no choice to begin with.

If it wasn't for Otto, our girls could have just chilled and been gay together and everything would have been better by the time GoT starts 😂
