Hi! Awesome video, thanks a lot for sharing!! Do you know how I can get a job in Bonaire? Ideally a windsurf related one! I’m coming for 3 months in December, maybe you know some people on the island that might need an extra pair of hands? Please let me know and thank you so much!

👍 Your Tack description being performed in perfect timing with the actual actions was excellent, and seeing that really proved that the tack is as easy to learn as a gybe and eventually perform well in yourself when you're primarily gaining experience in the sport. Gaining full knowledge of this prior to attempting them gives you greater confidence in Windsurfing, and then both practice and compete in the full range of Windsurfing events.

👍 That was well described and shown and as I'd learnt how to Windsurf almost half a century ago and opened my own Windsurfing school 4•5×years later I found it very easy to describe all of the actions myself during the tuition of my customers.

i got all of this covered but I always tend to go too much upwind (against the wind), what's the reason?
@willnicholls54 күн бұрын
If you're sailing and staying upwind that's a good thing. If you're talking about pointing too close to the wind you might be over sheeting the sail. This basically just means you've pulled in the sail too much and you've lost all your speed. You can fix this by letting go with the back hand and pushing the sail away. This will spin the board back to pointing across the wind then slowly pull the sail back in to increase the power and gain speed. Hope that helps :)

nice tutorial, but at 1:12 you,re sail is very close to the water. this can cause a bad whipe out. when you look at robby naish he keeps his sail straight and ducks his body under the sail wich is safer in my opinion. not that theres anything wrong whit this. just like to mension theres a safer tecnique. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d7GkfLGrrdzVfmg.htmlsi=95Bm1YXMpavTT94B

Hello Will, what is the volume of your board? For learning shaka, is it better to have a 100L than a 93L ?
@willnicholls512 күн бұрын
I’m using a 101L (JP Freestyle), I think the 93 would be easier but it depends on your weight. I use 101 because I’m 84kg. I usually use the board I can go fastest on
@olivierjacquet68097 күн бұрын
@@willnicholls5 Great, thank you for your answer. I'm 70kg and I usually sail on a 80L wave board. So I think that 93L is a good choice.

looks great, i like the movement to the front, but you are not turning the board.. try to not jump with your feet - better carv it short but aggressive with your ankels. it's a spezial movement where you carve the board upwind but travel all the weight across the wind, as you already doing on this attempt. and as known always bend the back arm

Generally you have been impressing me with your shaka attempts which have been looking like shakas from the beginning, while I was struggling with a super weird mix of flaka and shaka for 1 year. My feeling though is that you lean too much into the sail and towards the tail of your board. You are basically pulling the mast base further away from the wind instead of putting pressure on the mast base to orient the nose towards the wind at take off. I feel like you need to take off slightly more upwind, slightly more upright, your body weight slightly more towards the wind. You also seem to be starting the move at quite broad reach when you look at the other windsurfer behind you, which means your looking forward is really just bringing you far away from the wind and your sail doesn't really backwind. Check Continentseven videos of shakas and stop exactly at take-off time. You will see the difference with your position and the reach.

Hello Will, maybe to much pressure in the back hand. Normaly all the weight is in the front hand. With too much pressure in the back you make a shove it, it stops the rotation to go back into a straigth line
@willnicholls516 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to focus on having more pressure on the front hand. Thanks

Hi! Nice review, have you ever tried the V2 fox? With the new versione they changed the outline shape (more parallel) and the tail width: do you find that the new version is a bit more "speed oriented" instead of a more agile and chop oriented board?
@willnicholls516 күн бұрын
I never tried the V2 so I couldn't say for sure but it certainly feels very quick. Would be interesting to do a comparison
