It's the petrol. We test drove the diesel and petrol, but as we are low mileage drivers, with only a few longer journeys a year the £2000 premium for the diesel wasn't worth it. I believe Laura is getting around 37-38mpg with town driving. The petrol certainly woke up one it hit 1000 miles, and it keeps on getting better. In our experience Suzuki engines keep getting better and better as they get up to 6,000 miles on the clock.

Lucien Caldwell Hi, Lucien, many thanks for replying! Is this the reading from the trip computer or have you done your own brim-to-brim tests? Honestjohn's website reports 27 real mpg (www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg/suzuki/sx4-s-cross-2013), which alarmed me!

This is from the trip computer, we've not had chance to do our own tests. The mpg was low to start with, but improved as the engine added the miles.
