How is the vfo/channel rotary encoder? Most modern Chinese radios suffer from poor quality and sparse encoders with limited durability.

Good radio. I got same band conditions in NY . Been back to back solar storms . I am getting lots of background static as well. S3 to S7 . threw out 10/11/12/15 /17 meters not as much on 20 meters but up gaing on 40 meters and S9 on 80/160 meters. 20 and 17 meters best band for me the past few weeks . I did get Brazil and outher south American countries. bands starting to improve . getting more skip on CB. just worked Texas on Ch 38 SSB. on stock radio. 73

Do you have theae with the fan option on the website?

Im guessing they did the lock feature on the up down buttons on the microphone so someone doesnt accidentally change channels, I did this a couple of times and wondered why my friend stopped talking to me.

Question Mike... I watched a Washington video from Lester's CB and he did some power mod which I wouldn't want because I'd buy from you but he was getting 145 watts p.e.p out of that Washington.. that can't be good for that radio???

The question I have is this, which radio would be best on 11 meters, the AT 6666 Pro, or the AT 5555 N2 (short) or the President Washington ?

Nice radio. Wish it was easier for the UK 40 CB band. It is the offset they use that makes it hard. 60125 to 99125 . With a frequency display you can set it. but having the CH display follow along would be real nice. There's a few outher countries that have odd CB frequencies' as well. . I printed out a chart and laminated it to keep with radio. The 2781 UK CB band does skip over the the US from time to time. for me is winter months and early morning as sun rise to about noon ,Then DX window changes direction .Last winter the NY to UK was open 10/11/12 meters and like clockwork at times. worked same station same time every day for a month. I got Derbyshire,London,Manchester,Midlands ,Lockerbie Scotland and so much more last winter into spring. and the contacts wear made portable with end fed half wave set in a veritable ground mount. or my DX commander antenna . That gets me low take off angle for DX . Love all the colors you can select ! great looking radio. 73

I remember a friend and radio contact that had a Kenwood TS520s with a mc50 desk mike, He had the best audio i have ever heard, Full stop!! He always said never run anything flat out, Back it off to at least 2/3rds and as for its other tuning information i have no idea, But it has always stuck with me, I have always wanted to have as good of a signal as he had, But not being a ham, I have in the past sufficed with cybernets etc, That was quite some time ago, Having seen your channel and what you do has regained some of my interest, I would like to have a radio with a really nice signal/audio, The new QT80 /Anytone666 seems like a good choice? I did not know about that 6 meter one. We have been getting 6 meters open in NY at times. Normally I run a end fed half wave I made mono band for 6 meters. works super well. Them end fed half wave perform better if you cut mono band and tune it. I do have one new in box . it's half wave veritable with a loop at bottom where coax goes in. And has a short counterpoise sticking straight down under coax connecter. Is new all parts and manual in box from hamfest. I think it is the ringo ranger one. Been awhile since I looked at it. I did try it out. works just like a half wave and did cover the whole band after lots of tuning. I use a VNA to tune. I put it away after moving. someday I put it up again. They have a 10/11/12 meter version of it. just longer . Maco has a 5/8 one with ground plain. I had that one. Maco changed ownership over the years. the Maco amps part went under. was the same some years ago. 73

What I did was I put two flat washers between the screw and the microphone and that seemed to work out very well.

Great job showing that distortion. Something that the cleaner signal still makes about same power. In my book you gain nothing and you lose signal quality on the receive side to the person hearing you. The cleaner signal wins. exspelly when down in the noise floor. Much easier to pull them out. Them old meters fooled buy distortion and make it look like lots more power going out. And look at splatter outside of the normal bandwidth . That is where the extra powers goes. not on the center of the channel you want it. That why I got my QT 60 tuned buy Scoot's Radios . I wanted it clean as it can be with in reason. Made lots of contacts all over in DX land. and just with stock radio . And I ger great audio reports. The signal may be low due to band conditions. But audio herd is good. That counts the most ! . I would never use that feature. But I do understand why some would use it. It is up to us how we operate the radio. 73

#13👍 A constant tone is easy for the audio limiter because there is no fast frequency or amplitude changes. Voice with changes in frequency and amplitude gives the limiter more work due to time delays between the sampling and attenuating the audio signal.

Completely agree about the 198 mic never sounded good. I did buy one of those stryker mics for my 955 in the work truck and it just made me miss my Palomar sl-41.

I used the retail Syncron products around the mid/late 90’s, they were basically Zetagi products on the cheap. Thanks for the video buddy.
