You have to store in open air, not sealed in a bag if not a controlled environment with temperature flux, condensation got to the powder inside the cartridge.

You should not throw out ammo in the normal trash. There are proper ways to dispose of ammunition. Call a couple of firearms ranges, then call the local PD on the NON emergency line. Sometimes solid waste disposal place can tell you where to take it. Otherwise Bullet pull, defuse and then throw out. Just my two cents.
@BAAMRanch3 күн бұрын
I DID pull the bullets. I just didn’t see the need in discussing how I dispose of trash in the video. And for the record, under ZERO circumstance would I ask law enforcement to do it for me

I've shot WWII surplus 30-06 ammo. They must have stored it in temp control. I think the main issue is high temperatures.

I went through the ice storm of 98’. Lost power for 3 months in the dead of winter. Had to syphon gas with a hose so we could charge the truck battery to power the 115v inverter so we could watch satellite tv. (Thank god for redneck problem solving skills in the 1990’s. . No plows, police, power, cable tv & antenna tv, heat (wood stoves kept everyone alive), no gas, stores, schools etc. All we had was cold and ice. 1 person died in Maine (lived alone & slipped on the ice in his driveway & froze to death). Everyone helped everyone. Not like it is today. Had to keep our food outside in the shade so it wouldn’t spoil from the heat of the wood stove. And we had no coffee & creamer. That was hell!!!!!

I have ammo from 1937 loaded in Turkey and it shoots fine. In the military in 1983 as a sniper in Beirut we used match ammo from 1966. It shot fine. Doesn't take a long drawn out video. Leave it in it's original packing and store it in a cool dry place.

@BAAMRanch8 күн бұрын
Guess I need to provide a play by play of my life?? Yeah, I pulled the bullets takes 1/2 second to do! However reloading pistol is not worth the time for me. 3 clicks and it shows up in two days. I ordered a case of ammo for a Swiss rifle built in the 1800's for a customer of mine in the mid 1980's. Don't recall the caliber, but when we opened the case and inspected the boxes they looked like they had just been packaged. When we opened a couple of the boxes the brass looked like it had been made the day before. Further inspection of the cartridges revealed that they were stamped with the Nazi headstamp (eagle and swastika) and dated 1938. The boxes were stamped Hungary (in German). The ammo fired perfectly said my customer. I'm not sure that Baam Ranch is correct in his assumption about the ammo going bad because of how his ammo was stored. I am not saying he is a liar, I am just saying that maybe it was a bad lot of ammo. In the mid 80's I loaded a lot of ammo. Out of curosity I wanted to see if I could make ammo inoperable by submerging the 6 or 7 or so rounds in water. After 3 years the brass was so corroded that they would hardly fit in the chamber without having to scrape off the corrosion. The lead tips were corroded white, but did not affect the loading of the chamber though. Every one them fired perfectly. This ammo was stored inside so maybe it was temperature issue.

Since i dont plan "actively defending" myself at 500m (aka murdering people) i only plan to get a reliable handgun and rifle in .22lr but train excessively with them...and have at least 5-10k rounds for it stored at all times. For me these two guns are a .22lr revolver like the SP101 and a .22lr bolt action with a low powered (4x) fixed scope and backup iron sights like the stainless CZ457. Despite being able to buy 25round mags for the CZ i wont bother because i dont think a plastic magazines sticking 20-30cm out of the gun will last long. Thats why ill get around 5 of the 10 round metal magazines for it. p.s. I live in a country where you arent allowed to carry weapons so the self defense part is different from countries like the US. Most likely someone will try to break in and will be standing right in front of me (and between me and my gun safe).
