Hi! Thanks so much for watching and that’s a great question. The owner is from Edmonton. If you ever are in that city you might notice a part of a hospital and a road is named after Mr.Allard which was Tony’s father. Some of the older Oilers players actually visited the cannery a couple years before I started here.

We were scanning You Tube and came across you wonderful video and as an added bonus you ate at Palapa La Abuela which was built by my friend Daniel Lopez who worked most of his life on San Marcos Island at the Gypsum Mine. He came and asked me to play music on Sundays for the dinner guests so I only had to learn a couple hundred Spanish Songs. I remember when you came in but what a surpise when you included my picture of playing music. San Lucas Cove was the place I settled over 20 years ago and it has been fun to watch all the changes.

PS, having owned a number of businesses myself, you are only as good as your worst employee, so having a great team similar to the one you have at the Cannery is a testament to Tony, Ted, and to all of the Gang... I'm sure all of your guests will treasure their visits forever, thanks for sharing an inside view on Life at the Cannery! I'm sure Ted has shared with you that the reason we are going to be investing in the Rivers Inlet Community is a direct result of your Videos....so please give yourself a well-deserved pat on the back!!!! Perhaps you and your partner may consider working in your off season in one of our -planned ventures. However, given your seasonal schedule you may very well need the off season to recharge the batteries. Just throwing out it out there.

OBSERVATION..cook the porkloin with the ribs attached after pulling off the silver skin and cut bones off afterwards. Cook 275 for hours. Pork will fall off bone. Shred. The bones add an incredible amount of juciness. Then put drippings and bones in a pot to make stock. Great vids and that place is beautiful. Id live there year round helping out. QUESTION. Can you post some of your recipes or film when you make a meal taliking about ingredients, recipe and whay it tastes like so we can follow along.?

Nice to hear about the seal it's doing good and getting better fish school I started to laugh. Now you're nephew learn from you eyes open mouth shut ears open Take it all in and learn I have burnt myself many times I have done it again I was turning my breakfast around in the oven the one side will cook more than the other side eggs thought of eggs and oven and meat and cheese and the mix and I had a little garden snake that says jump past me Just about rape beside the hand the whistle. I touched the top of the oven trust me it's pain it didn't feel too good but I should have used my mom's oven miss the old big giant heavy duty industrial baking ones that are big giant is special up in once they have for baking bread for the for Canada I didn't use them but I was just turning stuff around a dish around you probably see and you've been out of making no send it out real nice sometimes I put mushrooms in it and eggs and ham and cheese or just put onions and peppers It's beautiful dish and it tastes very nice. Just tell your nephew keep his ears open eyes open don't ask a lot of questions and learn And the ladies tell big hugs . Guys hi ✋️. hey Jenny nice video I got a good recipe for you now it requires salmon eggs separate your salmon eggs through a screen if you're not already separated you want to take one quart of water to 8.6 oz of pickling salt very cold water mix it all up really good now put all your salmon eggs in there I normally do 15 minutes cuz I'm going to eat them soon if you want to last really long you can do it 30 but I rarely do that about 15-20 minutes at the most now have a calendar and cheesecloth put the cheesecloth in the calendar and pour all the salmon eggs in there after about 10 minutes put a glass bowl under the calendar and stick it in the refrigerator for about 8 hours and allow all this juice to settle all you got to do next is in Packham and glass jars or plastic if you're going to eat it quick but now you have really fine salmon caviar. I've used also this recipe for other types of fish eggs and it works really good by the way this comes out of Jack Whelan book smoke and salmon and trout you can get it on Amazon I recommend it it has incredible things in it it's one of the best books out there it's really really good it also talks about making lox that I've done many times it's just a two-day process

Thanks Jenny for these wonderful insights into your life at the lodge. Your colleagues are all really nice people and it's great to see you all get along so well!! What lovely people the owners are to work for, friends as well as bosses eh!!. Your hard work means the guests have the Best time during their stays, how lucky they are to be so well catered for. I visited Vancouver island, including port hardy in 2005 for a family wedding and holiday, then drove back through the rockies to Calgary, then flew home to Birmingham, England. A trip of a lifetime and your films remind me of the wonderful locations and lovely people I met, and the well renowned, and fully deserved, hospitable and friendly people you are!! Cheers Peter, good luck to you all.

@@jenny_adrift you are welcome Jenny. One of the best meals I had was in the harbourside pub/restaurant in port hardy which was fresh crab straight off the boat, and halibut, my favourite fish, washed down with a pint of beer. I called it the pub at the end of the universe!! worth travelling for. As my hobbies are fishing, photography and astronomy, I loved the sockeye salmon I caught, and barbecued with a family who put me up overnight in port Alice, such kind people, the scenery and beautiful rivers, and the amazing dark skies you have over there. I visited Tofino and Uclulet and paddled in the Pacific, walked some trails, went to telegraph cove, Campbell river on Canada day!!, and even found myself at Nootka seaplane base. Coming back to port Alberni,I discovered sproat lake where the Martin Mars water bombers were based, coincidentally the last one named Hawaii is due to be flown this weekend down to Victoria and put in a museum there!!. Such great memories of my trip to your lovely country. My cousins wedding was in a town called Duncan, known for its Totem poles, and took place on the side of Cowichan lake which was a lovely location!! I saw black bears, elk, beavers and even hummingbirds which amazed me. So thanks again for your expertly filmed and edited videos, you really are quite the film maker now!! Enjoy every day while you are young, make great memories and friends, cheers Peter.
