Ok but we just need vertical force for shear or both normal and vertical????

hold on, the problem asks to find the weight of w2 to maintain equilibrium, but you calculated the min and max values. so, what is the weight of w2 to maintain equilibrium?

hi, for ideal truss the connection shall be pinned , but in steel trusses practically some times the connection are welded with gusset plates , so a welded connection will remain a ideal truss connection or it will have some rigidity and moment?, please explain

I know its a silly question but I'm having a brain fart. Why is the y direction using the cosine and the x direction is using the Sine function?

thank you Dr. Hanson, your videos are very good, your students are very lucky. I am structural engineer, and i was wondering if you would ever consider making a video on shear lag? this concept has always seemed rather complicated and it is hard to find good papers on the subject.

This is wrong!!!!this is not how to solve derivative for an equation. what you did was just simplifying the equation. derivative of dx/dy ( f(x)^n = n ( f(x) ^n-1 X Derivative of F ( taking the derivative inside the parentheses).
