Thanks for the video. We go on our first ever cruise on Marella Explorer next May and been looking at excursions, did you book the Santorini one through Tui? I didn't know you could get a bus up the hill we have only seen cable cars, donkeys ( no way ) or walking. Thanks in advance.
@awaywithpaul3423
@awaywithpaul3423 Жыл бұрын
Hi Jane yes we booked through TUI. There are a few excursions in Santorini to choose from. My partner didn’t fancy the cable car so we took the bus option, however I managed to get her on a cable car in Funchal in March this year and she was fine with it 😊. The bus excursion doesn’t go to both parts and if you are looking for the “blue dome pictures “ they are on the other, longer excursions. There are some on this trip too but the classic pic everyone sees is in a diff village. I wasn’t bothered about “the classic pic” as it’s absolutely beautiful up there and the views are stunning where ever you are

Great video, we're booked to go on 21st july, from corfu, flying from edinburgh, im a bit panicked as our flight gets in at 9pm and ship meant to leave at 11pm, do you think the ship would wait if our flights delayed? Have you ever experienced late departure on your cruise experiences
@awaywithpaul3423
@awaywithpaul3423 Жыл бұрын
Don’t worry at all, the ship definitely waits. When we went on this cruise we didn’t leave til 3am as a flight was delayed, and on the second cruise into Gran Canaria it happened again so definitely no need to worry. Tbh a fair chunk of the passengers on each TUI flight into Corfu on that day will be cruisers and it’s so well organised. Once you get your baggage and go to the rep it’s all run like clockwork and you’ll soon be on board. Have fun!

Hi Ellsee the ship doesn’t actually dock it stays a little way from the island and you get a tender boat to the island. The tender docks at Athinios ferry port and the road to the top takes about five minutes then it’s a short drive to Thera. There is another excursion that lands the tender at Santorini old harbour and you get the cable car up I believe? We did the first option. It’s a lovely trip, you will love it 😊

I was fourteen in 1980, and for the previous five years' time I had owned Queen 1, 2, Sheer Heart Attack, Night & Day, News Of The World, Jazz and The Game. And up here in Seattle i would lock myself up in my room with these vinyl albums (as well as my Zeppelin and Who LPs) and learn all that i could by ear - there was certainly no internet and not even tablature for Queen, Zeppelin or Who songs - and i wouldn't have utilized that rubbish even if it had been available because I'd learned the absolute pleasure of using my ear to tune my guitar to the LP i wanted to learn from, and then I'd "ear out" tunes like Tenement Funster, Ogre Battle, Keep Yourself Alive, Rock n Roll, Custard Pie, Ten Years Gone, and everything i could from Live At Leeds AND Deep Purple's Made In Japan - and so many others. Paul Butterfield and Mike Bloomfield's East West album, Super Sessions, the Beano album... After seeing Queen in early '80 here at the old Seattle Center Coliseum ... Which was something I'd never, ever expected at all... Procession, then the lifting of the Pizza Oven lighting rig, opening with Dead On Time and Let Me Entertain You, etc... My young mind was blown. But even at that young age, i was ultra sensitive to songs like Lily Of The Valley, Love Of My Life, Good Company, etc... i just couldn't believe what i had just witnessed... my best friend, Mark Renstrum, and i were hanging out by the backstage door when John, Roger, and Freddie all ran out and jumped into their own limos and roared off. But a few minutes later Brian and a very large minder (you'd recognize him if you've looked closely at enough old Queen photo's), they both walked you to a small group of about six of us and Brian quietly said hello to every one and signed his name for us all (BRAD NEILINS, I WANT MY BRIAN MAY AUTOGRAPH BACK. You've had it for over forty five years now. It WASN'T a gift). Sorry... and i just couldn't believe that he, Brian, was standing there right next to me. Best night of my life. I went on as a teenager to have an utterly successful failure of a go at becoming a successful guitarist in many bands... at fifty seven i still play and it's the mainstay of my life... music. Queen. Thank you for listening.

Hi Lyn, I’m exactly the same! We went up on the coach because my partner doesn’t like cable cars (though she just went on one in Madeira and found it ok) I like cable cars but hate the cliff roads. The road up wasn’t too bad to be honest as the roads were wide enough and the drivers take their time. It’s not very busy either. I’ve been on some cliff roads in the Dolomites that were terrifying but this was fine and was over in a couple of minutes as once on the top it’s just normal roads and flat. I would happily do it again
