great video, now the downside. You cannot book on the website because the hotel allows places like Travelocity and competitors to buy up all the rooms so the price gouging that goes on will cost you with food over $1000 a night....yup my thoughts exactly, NOT WORTH IT!!! is it nice, yup. Is it really cool, yup. Is it worth you taking a mortgage on your house to stay there....HELL NO!

Great informative video, thank you. So we are going in Sept., did you need a park pass to enter of was your reservation essentially your park pass? I see now they require timed park passes, was that the case for you? And id so, did you leave in your car to go other places like Glacier Point Road & Mariposa Grove and were able to come & go with just the room reservation?

Thanks for this detailed video! Now that I see there is the possibility of getting connecting cabins, we might consider the cabin over the motel type room. My husband & I will be traveling with our adult son and we don't want to be on top of each other (but we wanted to be fairly close together). It will be costly, but it seems like the best solution.
@WanderfulWorldofTravel23 күн бұрын
I am so thrilled to hear that our room helped you out! We haven’t seen the hotel type rooms, so you may want to still keep them in mind, but yes, connecting rooms in the cabin would be a great idea!
Thanks for the tour! I am staying here one night before a cruise! I heard the reason the balcony doors don’t open anymore is due to accidental falling off

Last year when we went, the weather prevented them from actually doing the race. So they did offer flights. However, I think when it’s normal race time they do not offer rides. You’ll have to double check each year’s event schedule.

At the 2:43 minute mark as the train passes in front and the Hotel Roanoke in the background, if you look closer you'll notice the temporary light grey chain-link fence that's different from the taller black fencing on either side of the temporary panels. The nation had a mania following derailment after derailment back when the toxins got loose in East Palestine, Ohio over a year February 2023. For a railroad town like Roanoke, derailments are so common and the railroad so dominant in local politics they occurrences only made news for the company crews that had to clean them up and barely a mention on the local news channel. Back in late 2020 alone, that this video shows the repairs from, there were three derailments on this stretch of tracks in Roanoke in a six month period.

Mind the windows, keep them closed when not in the room. Rascally raccoons sometimes scale the outside stone and attempt entry. The Monte Cristo sandwich for lunch in the dinning room was excellent. Winter/fall there is often a fire in the huge great room fireplace. Sometimes there are special piano sing alongs by the afternoon fireplace. DEFINITELY sit at a writing desk in the great room and prepare a postcard to the grandparents or other significant friends. In the great room, relaxing at a window chair, and reading the daily newspaper, or book about the local history, or John Muir, is a highly recommended experience. Oh, the pool, in the partial forest, an experience to cherish

You can bring these on any ride that allows fanny packs because they have the 3-prong clip. Only a few rides at Universal don’t allow any bags at all.

the Yosemite Lodge is the ultimate ripoff. To begin with you can't get your room before 400pm and have to be out in the morning. You can't open the sliding door or windows because there are no screens and the bugs will eat you alive. I forgot the price I paid a few years ago but it was around $250 back then. The main dining room is as pricey as a fine restaurant in San Francisco, like $6.50 for a couple of rolls. The other dining room is an enhanced cafeteria and expensive with terrible food. The rooms are decades overdue for remodeling with worn out beds. And the Lodge cabins are worse than tents.
@WanderfulWorldofTravel4 ай бұрын
All valid points. I agree. The cost of the food in the dining room was a surprise. I don’t mind paying for a nice meal, but the cost for what we got seemed a bit astronomically high. And yes, the other dining room does seem like a cafeteria.

Good review, but I'd complain about the "kitchen". I would not really call it a kitchen if there is no stove. And for a recommendation, try out Element by Marriott. Has nearly all the things what Home 2 has, plus it has an actual kitchen in all rooms. They also give you an actual cooked breakfast in the lobby. Really healthy dishes as well, I was very surprised.
@patrickstrandberg44268 күн бұрын
Element is nice BUT the price is much higher $75 for same rom type that’s to much and parking is more expensive also. So rather stay at Home2 and save my money for another trio

Because they are such poor conductors of heat they reflect heat so they make great insulator ( heat reflectors) the guy who invented the green egg grill made his grills lined up with these bricks so all the heat from a coal fire is reflected to the food entirely and not lost to the grill like it happens with a metal made grill. The green egg is so efficient at reflecting heat you need less charcoal to burn to cook your food, so a bag of charcoal would last 2 or 3 seasons
