I did this back in 1970's , we were slower and used a 200' rope. 1 ski up at a time. 80-90mph was about top end. I think a guy named churchill was the fastest in the USA at the time. such great fun. Watching these videos makes me want go out again... still got my speed ski. people would come out to watch, good times and people.

Outrageous! Skiers on short ropes and short skis hitting 90+mph while getting blasted by golf ball size water bombs for 34 minutes. How good are these guys going. Plenty of video of the driver peddling the thing too, and no doubt the observer chewing his ear with directions. Skiers still wanting more right up to Merool. #Tough. # Skill. #Respect.

Yeah, Imo it’s even more impressive to master the social class than the main class, not saying that’s hard but these social class skiers at the top are just a different breed

We used to go watch the ski races at Library Park on Clearlake, CA in the 70's and 80's. Loved it! Can't seem to find any races anymore. Can you help guide me to some resources to find some? THANKS AND GREAT VIDEO!

SeekingZen4me are you still in CA? If so, just get on to a ski racing website to find a calendar of events. I could tell you the schedule for Australian races, but that’s probably not of much use.

To get away from the spray of the boat, and the wakes too narrow at high speed for two skiers, so we've gotta be back a long way :)
