Can you give me the best source to buy the gold, and the specs on the gold you use.? Thanks Dave

Multiple places to buy small quantities. A refiner like Hoover and Strong if you are buying large quantities . 24k is the easiest to inlay

Do you think there was a combination of some etching with engraving to get the desired effect? The size, detail and perfection is astounding. Thanks for sharing your acquisition done in the bank note style of engraving. Truely, a lost art or dying art to say the least.

Three master engravers discussing amazing works of 19th century banknote engravers. I think you have to be a hand engraver to appreciate the work of those early masters.

So, Thank you for the Video....I have a 1873 Colt SAA that in 1876 was sent to Spies, Kissam & co. NY, NY. Documentation states that Nimschke did most of the engraving for them. Issue.....My Colt is Nickeled and Engraved but I have no idea who did the work. No stamp / signature that I can see. How / Who can identify the Engraver ? The Gun Dealer in Sedona AZ. who sold the Colt documented that the Colt was "C" coverage by a "Master Engraver"....thats it. I want to know Who did the work...Barking up a tall tree or is it possible ??

Scott, Just came across this video from 4 years ago and want to say thank you from Jeff (Dad) and I on the compliment of his and now our work. Jeff was very happy when I showed him the video and we are still hard at work and plan on to for years to come. One of my favorite quotes from one of Dad's interviews when I was a kid "I do work and sell work that everybody wants, but no body needs." Hunter Jeffrey Flannery Jeff Flannery Engraving Company

great tips, and good video, one point, Ergonomics is the study of body posture, kinesthetics is the study of a bodies motion, ie the least, most ecconomic movement to execute any given task.( for repetitive actions the least muscle used, and the lesser the force, the better). one analogy to this is that the micro-surgeon does the same thing, over a microscope, and tiny, deliberate motion of tools, for long hours, to save "burning oneself out" means getting comfortable, thats the secret to endurance, safety, and lessening fatigue.

Why would anyone take a rare coin and destroy it's value? Please don't call it a work of art, that's not art it's simply destruction. If I am not mistaken, defacing US coins is a crime. Shame on you for this video.
@codycoco85473 жыл бұрын
Only altering coins with the intent of fraud is illegal. Think about those penny smashing machines at every tourist trap and zoo. Why can't this be art just because of the medium though? Nothing particularly special about those coins that warrants preservation.
