I saw Phil on a tour with Eric Clapton back in the 1980's. They were great. His fascination with the Alamo is very interesting. It is a pivotal moment. Of course, there's really 2 battles around the Alamo. The so-called Siege of Béxar preceded resulted in a Texas victory, whereas the second battle was a victory for Mexico.

Another very informative episode. Due to some family health issues, it’s been difficult to keep up with some past episodes. With answered prayers and continued improvement in the health of our loved one, I am so eager to return to listening on the history of the cradle of Texas Independence. Great job!!

Thank you for the work that is being done. Every time I’ve stood in front of the Alamo, I become emotional. It’s the heart beat of our great state. With it, so goes Texas. The hard work y’all are doing is preserving our greatest treasure. Thank you!! Great podcast as usual!!

September 2023, we took a historical adventure down to Goliad and then back east to the San Jacinto Battlegrounds. We spent the entire day driving around the entire site and getting out and walking to see each specific area. We ended the day with a walk through of the monument museum. It’s an amazing place and all Texans should visit it to see where our Republic was born. Great podcast!!!

We stay at the Gibbs Hotel each time we visit San Antonio and the Alamo. We’re very familiar with Travis Park. Thank you to the Maverick family for continuing to honor the memory of the men and women of the Alamo and their family history.

As a big Civil War buff, I found this episode very informative. It’s not often or ever that you hear any comparisons to the two battles. They did both create huge historical moments for generations to learn about. Thanks

What gets me I bet anything the Alamo defenders thought no one would remember this little battle and their sacrifices were of little matter. We cannot seem to forget it, it is played out over and over again, it is like a curse in a way...
