Sparrows love bathing. In my garden sometimes as many as a dozen sparrows bathing at the same time!

Hi Ivan, I also have two hedgehogs in my garden here at home, I have now bought two hedgehog houses, did you put straw in the houses yourself or did you let the hedgehogs do all the work? How and where do I best place the houses? Thank you Erwin ( Belgium )

Hi Erwin, we added straw to the house to get them started (use dust extracted straw available from pet suppliers) and make sure there’s plenty nearby in a dry spot - you’ll be amazed how much bedding they can stuff into the hut. Hog houses ideally need to be in a quiet spot, and sheltered from the weather, and definitely in shade, or they can overheat. If you are on Facebook, join the group “Saving Hedgehogs all over the uk”. The admins on there have a lot of knowledge and it’s great for resources and asking questions. Best food for hogs is usually high protein cat biscuits, as hedgehog food is unregulated (though Brambles and Spikes are probably Ok) and most of all, always make sure there is a shallow saucer of water for them. Hopefully, your happy hogs will move in. Maybe they’ll hibernate, and maybe you’ll have hoglets in the spring 😁

Helga had her babies elsewhere, and also hibernated elsewhere. Most hogs have several nests, so I don’t think she’s pregnant. It’s getting late for hoglets (though still possible)

She’s certainly not swayed by Hectors advances ! Thank you for reporting the broken video (dated 21/07/22) - sometimes the video editor has a problem exporting the video, but I have re-edited and re-uploaded it and it looks fine now. It’s rare that I use anything other than edits, most of the time the footage is in real time. I’ve speeded the video up by 2x on a couple of occasions where there is long footage I don’t want to cut, but it’s rare 😁

No, last year when we found her unresponsive in the garden we took her to a vet to be checked out. So she’s definitely a girl and she. We found her last year she’d had hoglets, so we put her back after her checkup. She’s been a regular visitor and frequent resident ever since.
