Monaco should have a spec electric car (same for everyone) that's small enough to race properly. All the drivers, in an even car, for just one race. Done.

They can't make the course wider, but they could lengthen it just a little bit. How? Just after the hairpin is a right-hand turn, then a short straight and another right hand turn to the straight that goes into the tunnel. Well, instead of going straight right after the right turn after the hairpin, make a left, then take a right around the building that creates a round about. That will lead directly to the straight that goes into the tunnel. Have that as a DRS zone. Do away with the chicane after the tunnel. To increase the passing zone. And keep the front straight DRS zone. Also, make it mandatory to use all 3 tire compounds. If there is a safety car or red flag in the first 10 to 15 laps, change of tires will not count toward the use of 3 tire compounds! Or better yet, cannot change tires in first 10 laps unless the tire has puncture or damage.

The media coverage made it even more sad with an extremely poor coverage of a dud race. Happy to see the podium, but commercials on tv F1 race coverage, and poor coverage on the events that took out several drivers made this a very tough time as a fan. Liberty media s__ks and are destroying F1 for true fans.

Indeed. Compare and contrast with the wildly exciting Indianapolis 500 race, even though it was delayed for four hours. In both cases, I long for the old times, when there were very few rules about what kind of propulsion and aero packages you could bring to the tracks. Flying cars would, for example, definitely be able to pass in Monaco, as long as they avoided the tunnel roof. More pit stops, and a race dominated by rubber science, don't appeal. The changes need to permit some form of overtaking, or the on-track result will remain a parade.

With Perez's performance this past weekend (Monaco) I'd love to see Sainz in that second Red Bull, though I find it highly unlikely. He'd be a better choice for Mercedes than Antonelli (sorry, not sorry but I'm tired of watching F1 use up these young drivers and discard them! Not many can be Max Verstappens!) I'm very excited for the Audi prospect and would love to see Williams back at the front of the sport, as they were when I first started watching F1. Any way you look at it, I'd like to see Carlos get a little more respect than he has been.

Watch wsc, the sports cars. Really fantastic season under way, great cars, brilliant racing. Everything n f1 is not. And f1 at spa 2021 - run one lap to cheat the fans. Wsc at spa 2024 - 1.5 hours to rebuild a barrier so the six hours was up. What do they do - add another 1.5 hours of racing so fans get their moneys worth. And while this hurt some teams results wise did any of them do the f1 spoilt children thing. Of course not.

I've finally grown sick of the annual "Monaco Parade" and I'm ready to ditch the race. In comparison to the Indy 500 later the same day, I'd watch Indy 500 times to no views of the "Parade". At least Max and Lewis made it somewhat interesting by pitting later in the race, but that still wasn't enough!

How about each team has to race with a 'classic' F1 car. Any era, any tyres, refueling may be an issue but they could do 2 races? That would be a hell of a weekend!
@natkourli65083 сағат бұрын
Everyone thinks and talks about that something must be mandatory in changing tires. But why?! Give it back possibility for refueling cars during the race! That will give chances for teams to make all kinds of strategies, combined with use of different tires (without mandatory rules) and we should immediately see F1 like it was in it's golden ages. Possibility of refueling gasoline changes everything. Of course, some shrinking in terms of the size of cars will also make no harm. And please don't say that refueling will be to much dangerous. (Put rather some mandatory things here in terms of security like some firefighting liquid spraying facilities in one every box of teams, just in case.)

Did Newey take all his upgrades off the car when he left then???? I don’t think his leaving has impacted it that much really. Their marginal gains have had diminishing returns and other team have had greater return off their gains. Simple really. It happened during Mercedes dominance and will happen in the future.

Meanwhile in Indianapolis . . . the story is all about the race. The daring overtaking. A race with 16 leaders? Or was it more? A final lap with TWO passes for the lead! An outside pass for the win in a turn at over 220 mph! Ahhhhh. Indianapolis. At least we have the Indy 500 to save racing during Monaco weekend!

Perhaps they should use special cars just for Monaco. Perhaps put the drivers in shifter carts. (I'm being serious here.) F1 drivers in shifter carts around Monaco would be an amazingly exciting spectacle!
@richardmichael11245 сағат бұрын
I’ve said make the drivers uses F3 cars. I read somewhat that the Automobile Club of Monaco were considering lengthening the track - but the truth is the cars are far too big and heavy for this circuit. I’d remove it from the Calendar and have a special non championship race there with invited F1 drivers driving none F1 cars . When they removed the IoM TT from the World Championship calendar it still thrived because it was a special track as is Monaco which already thrives with historic GP cars racing there.

I don't think tire compounds\mandatory pitstops will have any affect. You had the leader running several seconds off pace and still able to keep everyone behind him. To me, that nullifies any hope that different tire compounds will shake things up. Making more pit stops doesn't increase passing. While it does give more opportunities to gain positions under pitstops. The elephant in the room is the passing. You would have to shrink the cars and get rid of downforce or massively change the layout. None of that is really feasible for one race.

Tire changes at red flags should NOT count towards required compound change. Keeping green/yellow flag tire change strategy still in the mix. Makes the free red flag tire change choice a strategy decision too. And do it for all tracks! PS at least Sir Lancelot, who has been get'n a lot of hate this year, got to race at full speed for about 1/2 the race. AND passed 2 cars under green!!! I also agree with making Monaco a special events race instead. Kinda like NASCAR does with the Clash and Allstar race.
