Thanks for this vid, just starting messing about with a Sealey SM27. Would it be possible to run the lathe in reverse, cutting the thread away from the chuck into free space? Just my thoughts as I discover the lathe has no half nut disengage.👍

@@brimstone260 Possibly, you'd either have to invert the tool or come in from the back, experimentation required I think.

Great job Spen! Wonder when she was last operated on the aircraft? Brings back memories of working on FM159 in the 1990s and finding the h2s and its scanner in the barn full of parts !

Great to see, I had no idea that you could adjust the tilt on the dish on such an early set. It remained pretty much unchanged on the V Bombers or are they much different?
@SpenCrowson9 күн бұрын
The H2S Mk9 scanner the V's was a lot larger at 5ft long, but the fundamentals were the same
@WrightCycloneR18209 күн бұрын
@@SpenCrowson thanks for the reply, the V Bomber veterans often give the impression, seemingly rightly, that a lot of the on board tech was basically WW2 stuff.

Just a small correction, if I may, the first run was intended to only be a short run to settle the coolant as prescribed in the Mossie manual for initial runs upon refilling the system 😊

The built-up edge! And when it gets under the cutting tool! You can really see the "bad" surface at that place.

It looks like an electron microscope. I'd guess cutting tool is probably tungsten carbide. The steel acts like clay at this magnification.

Hello, I would like to test a Desynn transmitter manufactured by SMITHS whose reference is 6002 FG/CPM/3. I have documentation which gives me the reference of the test bench (3TE) but I cannot find it. Do you know if there is a generic Master Desynn indicator able of testing all types of Desynn transmitter? Thank you in advance for your answer.
@SpenCrowson6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your reply, the box I used is the standard 1st line test set. There was a Master Indicator for use at 2nd/3rd line servicing, but we don't have one, I've only seen one for sale, but that was some years ago. The book you need for reference is: Smiths DM5, I have a copy dated March 56, I can send you the PDF . I also have documents DM10 parts 1 & 2 and DM13. Hope that helps.
