I don’t own any of these vehicles but own a Land Cruiser 105, so based on your description it sounds halfway in between the two vehicles in your video. Your description of the 70s series driving experience reminds me of a Land Rover Defender 110… This is a great video, very informative!

6:07 The Jimny is only 1500cc & 100Hp. Rev the heck out of it when overtaking and you’ll be just fine. It’s like a 1970’s Italian sports car, you have to MAKE it go fast. -- The ones who know little to nothing about 4x4ing think the Jimny is a joke, a toy. The ones who know a bit more know that the Jimny is massively impressive from the shelf. If diff-lockers are added it turns to a furious maintain goat. I know that from experience as I’ve done it. Adding stiffer Nitro shocks from Ironman made the ride better and increased its capability as well.
@BorisEkner
@BorisEkner 29 күн бұрын
29:40 Yes, fuel capacity is issue with the Jimny but I am confident it can be solved with jerrycans. - Right? I have double diff-lockers in my 2022 Jimny and they transformed the Jimny from very capable to a beast of a mountain goat. In combination with the Nitro shock absorbers from Ironman it will perform even better when in the jungle. My thanks to Ironman for yet another great video.

I’m a Gen4 Jimny owner. I did not want a lift kit, but a firmer suspension. I watched this video after I learned that two other brand wasn’t what I wanted. One brand was ridiculously overpriced by the local dealer and did not have the shocks at home, nor did he want to sell me only the shocks without the 40mm lift springs. The second brand had the complete kit at a better price than the first but refused to sell me only the shocks. Your representative had no issue selling me the shocks and included a steering damper as well in the price. That was a pleasant surprise. I travel light in my Jimny. I don’t need the most advanced shocks. Standard Nitro’s are good enough for my kind of driving. I wanted a slightly more firm suspension, and I got it! The ride is slightly stiffer in a straight line on tarmac. It is a lot stiffer when cornering at higher speeds, and it doesn’t dip as much when braking hard from high speeds. I got just what I wanted and I am very happy with the choice and purchase made. No regrets whatsoever. My thanks to you for creating a great product!

I have an EB, got my K52 in Jan 1980, and that was converted to EB in Worcester when the time came. They asked if I towed and I confirmed. We were given road use & safety training between 1968 and 1979 at school. I passed my K53 in 1992 with 98%.

Older people do not get an eb license by default. In the good old days you could tow a caravan with the old code 8 until the government found a new way to make money
@jeanrimmer129
@jeanrimmer129 29 күн бұрын
Also worth noting, a fine is not the worst case scenario here. If you are involved in an accident with the 750kg+ trailer/caravan attached to your vehicle your insurance will also not pay out your claims since you are not licensed to be towing that weight. Could potentially cost you hundreds of thousands!

School driving lessons/subject won’t work because the past rate is only 30%, at least at license department it is 80-90% 😂 But yes I agree, should be a skill taught to everyone and schools would be a great place

I must say, I don’t know about the limitation of my code 8 license until I bought a camping trailer and realised that I would need to upgrade because I can’t tow a trailer larger than 750kg with it. They must scrap code 8. My car barely qualifies for it as well (Discovery 4).

I had to pass out for EB license last year for towing a caravan over 750KG . Had to write leaners and pass out with an caravan attached to the vehicle
@Goose_JB74
@Goose_JB74 29 күн бұрын
Hi Mic thanks for the video, sad part is you have to redo your leaners as well as the license i have been told at the licensing department to get an EB and there NO difference in the test written and driving for the B to EB
@shaunmatthews6889
@shaunmatthews6889 29 күн бұрын
there is a difference, to do an EB licence, you do the HMV test (alley docking from the right, the left turn and straight reverse, as well as the code B parallel parking, you have to detach and attach the trailer before and after the parallel) The Trailer can be unloaded, but has to have a GMV of >750 kg ie. 751kg and above. and no, I have been asked before, you DO NOT lose your originally obtained license if you fail the EB test.
@TheOuboet
@TheOuboet 29 күн бұрын
@@shaunmatthews6889 The person you are replying to is referring to there being no difference in the written test (Learners). It's the same test for B and EB (Code 2 learners).

Thank you for the video. Always interesting to see different perspectives. We have enjoyed our Hilux's VERY much over the last 20 years. Below a breakdown of our last 6 Overland vehicles and a short summary of each: 2.7 Petrol - Thirsty but good vehicle. Reliable. 3.0 KZTE - Very nice offroad, but don't tow with it, as you struggle to maintain speed of 110+. Overtaking requires a project plan! (It could have done better with an intercooler) 4.0 V6 - Wow, awesome motor - THIRSTY. Need to get used to the auto box, liked to hunt gears. Towed like a dream! 3.0 D4D - VERY nice vehicle. Very capable. Good for towing. Had wonderful overland trips with this vehicle. - Will buy it again if I can find it with low mileage! 2.8 GD-6 - WOW! Really, really nice vehicle!! Again wonderful overland trips, tows nicely. NOTHING wrong with it! Will definitely buy one again! Land Cruiser 79 4.5 V8 - Since this is our last Overland vehicle purchase, I decided on a 'never die workhorse'. It is expensive for the luxuries you get. You spend a LOT of money kitting it out, more than the Hilux would. The V8 motor is a jewel. AWESOME!!! I chose the LC for its absolute ruggedness. It will last us 15 to 20 years. Don't think the Hilux will last as gracefully as the Cruiser. (My opinion), and to replace an Overland vehicle while on Pension is a money pit. Rather spend once, and a little more and have a solid vehicle for the next 15-20 years. This was my logic in any case. Like Mic says, the Land Cruiser you need to actively drive it. Focus. It is a hell of a lot of FUN to drive. I loved my 2.8 GD6, but I *LOVE* my Cruiser Either vehicle, will take you to Kenya and back! - The LC will do so many many times over! PS, my wife did NOT like the "Plaasbakkie" since the idea surfaced, even when I bought it. It was ugly, not enough cup holders, etc etc etc. While on our first Botswana trip, she admitted the LC was a GOOD BUY. She loves the Cruiser now ;-)

Kindly asking is this skeleton place same as Bermuda Triangle because I hear story about lost ships and plains people missing not found?.
@OBCBTTB
@OBCBTTB 17 күн бұрын
Nothing like the Bermuda Triangle at all. It's just a long coastline with a lot of nothingness for miles either side. In other words, you don't want to end up being marooned here with no supplies and protection, you'd be a potential skeleton if you did. Nowadays the routes are more travelled, and the ships sailing past have GPS and radar. All that been said, I haven't been to this area, but now that I have seen this video, I think we should make a plan. We live in South Africa, have travelled through Namibia, but not along this coastline.

Absolutely brilliant. Good balance between the presenter interaction with the audience and the presentation of nature to the audience. The knowledge of the tour operators are phenomenal and should this video have been 3 hours long to hear all the knowledge, it would have been the best 3 hours spent ever. Thanks for this presentation for us to watch.
