Ich liebe dieses Stück seit 1956, als ich es zum ersten Mal als Kind im Light Program der BBC hörte (das Jahre später zu Radio 2 wurde). Ich kann mich noch gut an die Aufregung erinnern, die es mir als kleiner Junge bereitete. Es war der Beginn einer lebenslangen Liebe zur Orchestermusik. Es wird von John Wilson's Orchestra gespielt und diese Aufführung ist genauso gut wie seine Version.

Whilst technically correct, I think the smaller parts could have been even smaller, and the big parts even bigger. Really should dig in more at the frenzied parts.

A correct, unpretentious interpretation. A low tempo, probably that's what the conductor could hold in his hand. The ending is partially missed.
