Some people say that don't think too much about salary in initial stage of career and focus on hitting the company's goal, increasing revenue and saving time in projects so after achieving these things what's the next steps to double or triple down our salary ? Unfortunately, changing companies is the fastest way to increase your pay. Typically, the top companies in each industry pay the most so if you aren't already working at one of the top companies in your sector, you should try to move into bigger and bigger companies over time.

You do get to choose, but it is not a guarantee that out of 20 applicants, your #1 choice that also meets the DEI criteria will be in there. It's definitely stupid.
@CareerShakers7 күн бұрын
Have you experienced this at your company?
@doublebarrel79137 күн бұрын
No. I know people who work for staffing agencies, and they have DEI clients, and sometimes the client is at a point where staff turns over and below quota. The client gets upset because the process is taking too long, and my friends have to assure the client that the combo of qualified and "diverse" is difficult and that they must be patient. Finding just qualified people is hard enough.

I just bumped into your channel and I appreciate how you take time out to reply questions. So I had my first remote work interview 3days ago, it went from the supposed 45mins to 1hr 38mins.. There were 3 interviewers BTW. In the beginning, one of them said they liked how I am already picturing myself in their team after I answered the usual; tell me about yourself question.. Along the line, another said, she liked my confidence.. Then when I was asked why they should hire me, after my explanation, I pulled out a work plan of what I’ll be doing on my first 90days if I become successful and one of them left a thumbs up on the screen.. The lead interviewer then said, I came really prepared.. Then he asked what my salary expectations were and when I mentioned he asked if we could negotiate and we did.. In the end he mentioned that, they have other candidates to interview, but if I’m successful, the next step would be to review my docs. They even forgot to ask me if I had any questions and when they were about to log off, I rose my hand to ask my question and they apologised, and answered my questions really well.. What do you think?

I actually downloaded an ATS system as an "employer", and tried it out. I posted a fake job (sorry, this was for research), and about 30 people applied before it was taken down. The results were astonishing. . A resume might say "Software developer with background in test automation using Selenium, Cucumber, and includes various development project using React", and from this, the ATS will pick out all the key words that are important and put them in a list for me. What does it pick out? . "With" / "Test" / "Cucumber" / "Various" / "And" <-- it will identify these word as "skills" and then rank the applicant based on them. With the particular ATS I used, there appears to be literally no way to "hack" the system so that it picks your resume. My team and I tried every bizarre list of words you can think of and it was always random what it chose, no matter what format we used. . I'm currently trying to get a hold of Indeed's ATS and perform the same experiments to see if it's the same deal, or if their particular ATS works differently. Indeed no longer allows new people to post jobs, and only allows established corporations to post anything, meaning I'm unable to access it. I'm looking for anyone who might have the ability to post a job using Indeed's site so we can run some test and see what's up. Reach out to me if interested.

Hello, Question: Is around 35-40 minutes still a good length? The recruiters really seemed to like my answers a lot, there were 3 people interviewing me. I'm applying for a nurse RN job at a hospital. 🙏🙏🙏 After rhe interview the recruiter asked if i had any questions, and she gave me her buisiness card if i had any questions and said that i should expect a phone call by next week (if im chosen). They really liked my answers to their clinical based questions and nodded their heads and smiled, we laughed a few times too, i wanted to be down-to-earth yet corgial, i was very enthusiatic with them and smiled. I saw them take lots of notes when i replied with my answers, and when i answered certain ones right they said "good 👍". Please let me know your input. 🙏🙏 Also wanted to mentioned, they really liked my resume, and when i submitted my application they called me within 4 hours to schedule an interview. Does this mean anything? I have 8 years of healthcare experience and worked as a CNA and LVN, now applying for an RN role. Also they did say "if you were hired for this role, what would you expect to gain from this position?" And they asked what shifts I would be interested in Day or Night. I said, "im good with either or, im good with what you guys need me for , ive worked AM, PM, and graveyard".

What if scenario: 1. First round was for 30 mins, interviewer finishes in 21 mins. Makes notes throughout. 2. Interviewer was engaged throughout. 3. Tells candidate, we are still interviewing other candidates BUT DO NOT WORRY, you will hear from HR IN couple of days 4. Calls ends with appreciating candidate taking time to give interview. What do you think? Moved to next level or rejected in first level?
@CareerShakers29 күн бұрын
Hard to tell, you could've answered the questions so well and thoroughly that the interview ended early. Also, HR will contact every candidate to tell them if they're moving forward or not so #3 doesn't mean good or bad. Let us know if you passed!

Often previous position bullet points use past tense verbs in the work experience section. (i.e. “Analyzed data etc etc”) In the job description it will have a desire for someone with “Great Analytical Skills” …do those ATS programs pick up the past tense word “analyzed” or is your resume passed over bc your bullet point doesn’t literally say “analytical skills” which the system may prefer but is not descriptive enough possibly for a recruiter who’s looking for more detail.
@CareerShakers29 күн бұрын
I don't believe so. Also, the keywords they're looking for aren't usually verbs. For example, in a data analyst role the ATS will be set up to look for "phython" or "SQL" not "uses SQL"
@TyrisalthanАй бұрын
I don't think that is an elevator pitch. Elevator pitch is usually some idea you try to convince to the other party. Essentially a pitch to sell your idea. And since you don't have a lot of time to do it, it has to be condensed to the most simple form, while still giving the reason what set the idea apart from the competition.
@CareerShakersАй бұрын
There are definitely different definitions of an elevator pitch. Since my channel is focused on career coaching, I defined it when you need to "pitch" yourself at a networking event.

Actually, former managers are not allowed to say anything about your previous work or performance. Even if they are contacted and told you gave them permission to speak about you. There is not legal document outside of a courtroom requirement, that allows your former boss to speak about your previous work. It’s 100% illegal. Even if they speak favorably of you. Employers can run into some serious legal issues costing 10s of thousands in fines, when a manager speaks about your performance. The safest way to handle references, is a written statement from former business acquaintances. And that’s where the buck stops. The only time a future employer can contact and speak with a member of your former company, is via a background check. And these background checks are done with “legal” processes approved by law enforcement agencies. If your former manager or team members are contacted by a candidate company directly, get in touch with a lawyer and discuss next actions. You have rights.

I worked with a recruiter and noticed their job is to make money. They act as if they are only working with you for this position meanwhile they'll send dozens of applicants to compete with you even unqualifed applicants.
@CareerShakersАй бұрын
Recruiters at agencies are paid for every person they hire, but if you're working with a recruiter who is an employee of the company, then they are paid salary. In either case, a recruiters job is to make sure they present as many qualified candidates to the hiring manager as possible, so you will always have competition when you are interviewing. BUT if you are the best person for the job and interview well, you should get picked :)
