That’s another one that I think people refer to as a struggle to read! After reading one book from each, (The Brothers Karamazov), I think Dostoyevsky likes to meander on philosophy, whereas Tolstoy likes to muse about politics.

@@covergirlbooks Oh, I very much have a like/hate relationship with my goal of finishing 6+ series that I only had one book left to read. There was one series I thought I had finished, but when I looked on GR afterwards, all of the books that had been considered part of the same world but not part of the series were now listed as part of the series 😡 meaning I had 6 more books to read (I've now read 2 of those, because I'm determined 😆) Thank goodness in this case they're graphic novels, but still.

Hmm, I’ll have to give that a try if I’m finding Hamnet tiresome 😁 thanks for the tip! I’ve been sitting on page 25 of book 2 in Mistborn for about 3 weeks, but I picked it up today and read through the end of Part 1. Gotta say the short chapters are smaaaart. I still feel a little distanced from the characters, feels like plot rules the world.

That’s what several friends have said is their experience. There were 20 cases the day I went, and 300 people in the room, so the odds were high that each would at least get to the interview for eligibility “voir dire.” It was really interesting! For the most part, my initial dread was overruled 🤓

I went to The Book Loft when I was in high school or early college with two of my cousins and really liked it, but I wasn't even sure if it was still around until you posted this! I get being exhausted by the book crawl. I've never done one, but I think I would be worn out at the end of it too. I think it would be more fun if the bookstores were closer to each other (which they don't have much control over) or if there was a shuttle system running you between each of them.

My hardback copy of Dangerous Woman by Hope Adams has a nice spine. I love the Shady Hollow books. I have an idea for a future prompt. Read a non fiction book that the subject is mentioned in a fiction book, or a non fiction based on true events. As an example the book I am reading Dangerous Woman is fiction murder mystery based on a ship that took female convicts to Australia. The non fiction book I am going to read Is the Floating Brothel.

Mom-Cameo! ❤ I think I've read retellings of Snow White that include a sister named Rose Red before. I wonder where thay originated from 🤔
@covergirlbooks3 ай бұрын
Snow White and Rose Red is the original German fairy tale that was included in the Brothers’ Grimm (1837). There is but one dwarf, and he is not sleepy or happy. Having just read the book, I can say that it does tie pretty strongly to the original, with some fun variations that give it a more childlike resolution, instead of the traditional fairytale wedding and happy ever after.
