I like the revised version with the squircle capacitive touch pad a little bit more, but the original model still has the main feature that made it a somewhat viable choice compared to the iPod Classic: the significantly larger display.

this video is a great help. i picked an OG xbox out of a pile of scrap eletronics at work (work at a pc shop) and it was already modded with the aladdin modchip. it just wouldnt go past the BIOS screen because the drive failed.

I would just use my cellphone to listen to music even when I had a Flip phone I would load music on a MicroSD and listen to music off it.

Nice job! You could've gotten a much smaller bluetooth tranceiver though by buying just a module. They also run on 3.7V so no need for the boost converter either.

4:02 couldn’t you have just used an iflash? The iPod 5-7 classics used the zif connector and iflash makes sd boards, people also make M.2 converters.

What is the type of wire you used? looks like it has intermittent soldering points? (the colour change) is this right? not the same as your link? maybe im wrong. can you pls elaborate?

@@federicoroldan1441 I just used some recycled wire. It is old twisted pair wire like the wire that is inside an Ethernet or phone cable. The colored marks on the wire do not correlate with soldering points. It is just color-coded wire. I try to use recycled materials when I can to avoid creating waste.

You know, until now I never thought to move the normal numbers keys row as a numpad.. The only time I ever use the number row really is for games that use those numbers, but generally only to about 5 and those can be remapped to something else. Great idea on that piece.

Do you have to do all that reflashing business? Looks like lots of reviewers on Aliexpress had their consoles boot straight away after installing the chip.

At the time that I purchased my chip, The chips were shipping with an older version of the software. I flashed my chip this way because I knew with 100% certainty that it would work and I could use Cerbios, which was still very new at the time.
