Don’t you just hate the panic of knowing you’re coming to the end of a good book series? 🫣 I guess the contrast yarn colour for the stripy socks depends on what colour stripe falls at the heel.

Ooh, a lovely vlog again! That bag from Melena is beautiful and a perfect match for the giddy gobstopper. Love a co-ordinated project. 🤣

I love the Waroo shawl and have also made 2! One from a Whirl and one from sock yarn. I've also made the Bantam shawl which is the same pattern but in a different shape. Even though I'd made 2 Waroo shawls, the Bantam for some reason really worked my brain and I kept making mistakes and would have to frog and redo so many times I probably crocheted it twice! I was determined to finish it and so glad I did because I absolutely love it! Also used a whirl type cake for it.

Keeping the windows and curtains closed when it’s hot outside helps keep the heat out. It’ll only cool down when it’s cooler outside than inside.

I love watching other people crochet and enjoy seeing their particular style. I'm always amazed at how economical of movement some can be whereas my style is like a whole arm workout! Consequently I prefer a crochet hook with quite a long shank. I've tried some hooks with handles but find my "flow" is interrupted when the yarn hits the handle. Not sure if that makes sense. I was wondering if you have a favourite hook or use a variety depending on mood, project or what you have to hand?

I'm listening to Addie Le Rue on your recommendation. It's amazing! I can't stop listening to it. It was included with my Audible sub. I've been listening to some classics, I just listened to A Little Princess and The Secret Garden, both included on audible. They are quite dated with the language around people of colour but I enjoyed them.

Thank you for keeping me company as I sit, like you do, with yarn round my knees winding up my Craft House Magic Popstars mini for my cozy memories blanket. I too hate the hot weather. It's much cooler today (Monday) hooray!

Finally my husband went back to work after our holidays, and I have the house to myself 😀, so now I can binge watch you, Ali 😀. I've just started a crochet temperature blanket for my youngest Granddaugther, Sally. She was born in February, so I have a lot to catch up on!

Really enjoying your videos Ali! Couldn’t agree more about people lighting a bonfire on our precious sunny days! Absolute numpty’s! We lived near one of those at our old home but luckily where we live now there are strict bylaws banning them! Loved seeing your mini collection and a more in depth probe would make a brilliant video ( though I suspect you have done one before!) take care x

Hi Ali, I'm so enjoying these vlogs. Im currently not working on anything creative as Im in the middle of an essay for my Masters and being very strict with myself- no knitting/crochet until it's done 😞. I'm rushing to get it finished before we go away and planning to reward myself with lots of crafty things once I'm done! Until then I'm living my crafting life through you! x

hooray for daily making vlogs! these bring me so much joy. I've had such a busy weekend that I've now got three vlogs to catch up on. The biggest wool show in my area was just on and I absolutely exhausted myself, but it was so worth it. Now my chronic illness is having its revenge and I am giving my poor body a well deserved rest. Luckily I can binge these vlogs to keep me company, which is cheering me up. At the wool show I bought some exciting sock yarn, so I'm looking for to strictly season. I also bought some spinning fiber which is designed to be an eco-freindly sock blend (non-superwash shetland wool and bio-degradeable nylon) I've never spun for socks before so that should be a fun challenge! Have you done any spinning recently Ali? I remember earlier in the year at a wool show you made a pact with a friend that you were both gonna spin each other minis to exchange at another show, which I thought was such a fun idea.

Hi Ali, we live in Massachusetts and it has been really hot and humid here. Believe it or not it is better if you leave everything closed up as it will stay cooler inside. The minute you open everything up all the heat and humidity come in😍. Good luck! I hate the humidity! FYI I grew up in Faversham but moved here in 1981. I can never remember such hot summers back in the day…

Hi, here in Canada we are also having some yucky hot weather 😫 I’m nearing the halfway mark on my Marigold tee, it’s awesome for a single gorgeous skein of fingering weight yarn. Wow, that’s an impressive amount of minis 😻

Oh my gosh! The duology scarf was mine :D I'm using a 4ply (fingering yarn) and a suri to make it fluffy. I bought the yarn before the pattern, so mine doesn't have the colourblocking, but I am keen to make it again with colourblocking later on. I'm so glad that you liked it! I love your vlogs, and would be interetsed in seeing your yarn stash/project ideas. I only have 3 wips at the moment, the duology, a plain pair of socks for meeting knitting, and my first ever jumper which is a plain raglan top down. I find any more projects I get too overwhelmed. I always need a plain knitting project for when my brain needs to switch off, and then a project for when I need a challenge.
@LittleDropsofWonderful

Ah Melissa it was you! I am definitely going to make that scarf so thanks so much for mentioning it. I have more WIPS than I can count 🫣 and it is overwhelming so having just 3 is definitely the sensible way to go :)

Hi Ali, have you listened to “Remarkably Bright Creatures”? I’m afraid it’s about an octopus and NOT a lobster but it is a wonderful book and the narrator is excellent. It’s not just about an octopus, but about the people who are around him. I highly recommend it!

Hi Margaret! I have! One of my favourite books of this year, and the narrator for Marcellus was just perfect 🐙 Such a sweet story. A couple of years ago I listened to a non-fiction called Other Minds - all about the evolution of the Octopus. It sounds dry but it was so good! xx

Same weather here. Sunday has been grey and rainy on and off with a little cooler temperatures. It was bliss after the heat. I have not gone out of my apartment in the heat. Instead, I have been parked on the couch with my crochet and cross stitch. We have ceiling fans and they make life bearable. Never be ashamed of your yarn stash Ali. It is good to be able to become inspired and just pull things out of our stash and start on them. 🧶🧶🧶

Ali, do you have a basement? My house growing up didn't have air conditioning so the basement was our cool hangout when the summer heat got to us. Now live in a house with A/C however it is really insulated so the A/C acts more as a dehumidifier. Thanks for sharing part of your mini collection with us. I don't have many purchased minis ... I just have a mountain of wool scraps ... little balls to a few buckets of snipped bits to make dryer balls with. Cotton scraps end up in my garden tying up tomatoes. Cheers from Canada.
