Unfortunately, Warner Bros and the CW are woke as can be. If they have a say in the new B5 series they will "The Last Jedi" the crap out of it. Also, the reimagining of Battlestar Galactica and West World although they have strengths like art direction, action, and the acting was top notch.. the stories were horrible and the characters in BSG (I could only watch a few episodes of WW) were not sympathetic... the only person you wanted to live was President Roslin... all the others were stuffed self serving aholes... The Cylons were dumbed down and the entire series was a mockery of GOD, with each episode a who is doing who moment... not to mention they gender swapped Commander Cain and made her an admiral not commander... and she was apparently gay (South Park got that right) So with JMS helming the series hopefully he puts the breaks on the woke nonsense and hatred of traditional families and faith... otherwise it will crash and burn fast. The original BSG, WW, and B5 possessed a priceless charm... The reboots of the former two expunged that charm for debauchery and grime... Perhaps B5 will escape that fate..

The Dune part 2 movie strayed so far from the book. Paul married Irulan in name only. He would never visit except for imperial events and had children with Chani who is a descendent of the Liet-Kynes line.

The number one issue with Caprica was the acting ability of Alessandra Torresani. She spoke like she had marbles in her mouth.

Haven't read this book in a really long time. Should revisit it.

Funny. One major gripe I had with the last remake was how closely it followed tbe og plot. I know its common for directors to screw up timelines these days, but stories that trope them should really use them. This game plot serves as a reminder of that crestive fact!

Carl Sagan wrote several good books. "Contact " is just one of them.

I'm sceptical. Much modern writing is rife with self inserts, fanfic of highly variable quality and outright hackery. It's a very interesting 'what if?' but it'll require extremely careful and clever handling. I'm not sure contemporary writing quality is up to it. Hope for the best. Expect the worst.

There is nothing "exciting" about this. No has had any original ideas, so they are ruining all the classics with "reboot."

This was such a great movie, I have been waiting for another movie ever since I seen it back in the 80 when I was only 12 years old. 40 years I have been waiting, be nice to see a continuation before I pass. With so much crap coming out of Hollywood lately, there has been maybe 5 good movies since before Covid. The lack of good movies that are not full of bad acting, to much CGA, and stupid story lines, about time they make a good movie and this one would be assume to see once again on the big screen. I have the original on 4K as I have my own home IMAX theater with. 30’ screen, I would still go see this at the box office even though I have better seats, popcorn, and sound, just something about seeing it in a full size IMAX screen. I am pushing 7,500 watts of power with a IMAX, Auro-3D, Dolby vision and Atmos system, I will add the new one to my collection if it comes out. To hear it in my theater would be assume with over 16 channels and DBOX seats, I hope they encode the DBOX program into the disk

I STILL don't get why Jessica didn't also give Leto a daughter, and why it can seem like she, a crucial cog in the Sisterhood's machine was permitted to just cool her jets, on Caladan, and not produce results. It can get hazy deciding if the connected Bene Gesserit just didn't know about Paul, even though they told Jessica to only create daughters, with Leto, or if they just weren't keeping an eye on her, and thought she had spent 20 years a concubine who wasn't doing the one thing a concubine does. Paul is 15, I think, when Dune started. Am I to believe that, in 15 years,Leto and Jessica, who even had strong feelings for each other, couldn't find a chance to breed? If the info network got spotty, you'd think Jessica would make the girl just to throw off the BG, or at least deliver, if not also making am hier, but in DECADES she didn't manage? And in that time, the Sisterhood simplyv3asnt bothered, even as the Emperor's Soothsayer likely gleaned at least some of his plan? Also, all of this hinges on Leto making an army, but Duke Atreides usually seemed like a decent, upstanding man, so why was he building an army, and then one he'd later have to pay out the nose, to the Guild, to move offensively against any opponent? It would seem like the Emperor could, if he wanted, just bribe the Guild to refuse to passage Leto's forces, should he ever launch a conflict, and even this super-army seemed basically non-plus once conflict started. Only with the Fremen, whom Paul had to train in BG ways, were the Sardukar bested; whatevervforce Leto had seemed still well shy of bring ready.

I’m honestly surprised that I’m ok with these changes. I’ve read all the books so many times and am such an unrelenting canon-purists. But this has great potential. If they did a film or series with this concept I’d not be pleased. But in this media it seems fitting.

I actually liked Caprica and was sad that it was canceled, especially considering the preview shots that hinted at the content of season 2. Sure, the external setting was more like USA in the 1970s than a futuristic setting, but at the same time it also had VR worlds and the Cylons and, with Alessandra Torresani, IMHO a likeable main cast.

I also "like" when, Jessica, member of Bene G, someone who can operate with every atom in her body, womit, during the extraction of water from dead...

Brian Herbert seems not to have gotten the memo that his father didn't set up a purely machines vs humanity scenario in the Butlerian Jihad. This documentary's premise is incorrect, I think.

I have to admit that Rebecca Grayson's lady jessica was definitely an excellent casting call in that film.

This was the ONE THING in the entire series that I absolutely hated. She just "poof" gone. No explanation. Nothing.

If they are looking for new content, "The Last Starfighter" would be a very interesting source material. The movie has a lot of ideas that would make it a perfect fit for a series: the hero's journey, undercover androids replacing humans, a love story, the underdog newbie who becomes the last hope of the universe, a frontier wall that fails to hold an alien invasion, a traitor's madness, a nearly invincible Jem'Hadar-like enemy, a hero's girlfriend who fights aliens on Earth, a promising academy of fighters, and so on.

This seems to leave out the strong reason for the golden path around the sentient self replicating hunter killers that it was intended to protect humanity from. (Apologies if I am mixing F.Herbert with his sons work)

The promo pictures of Zoe as a thin, sexy young woman instead of the chubby freshman college girl was a terrible way to start the series. Fans expected an attractive, dangerous female lead instead of a shlubby spoiled jooish rich girl.

Only thing wrong here is the dating. It is AD, not CE.

What we know: 1. Kara died. More than once. In the exploding ship, and also as a corpse on Earth.. 2. Kara didn't remember dying. 3. When resurrected she had a brand new Viper with her. 4. The Cylons (Leoben) didn't know what she was, but were intensely interested in her (Leoben, base-ship hybrids). 5. Kara was a hybrid. Human mother, Cylon father - Daniel. 6. Kara had a destiny. This was understood by many, including her mother. 7. "Higher Beings" are actively involved in that world. The various "Angels". Also a higher power to whom they are subordinate (see The Plan). 8. The Higher Beings are not concerned with being "good". Just in achieving ends. In convoluted a manner. "Playful" gods. 9. These gods must have generated a new Viper, as they generated a new Kara. Kara may have died may times over, as finding remains is a long shot. Mostly people hadn't noticed. Conclusion: Kara Thrace's mother was a descendant of Kenny McCormick. Kara Thrace is a descendant of Kenny and a Cylon, reactivating the reincarnation "gene". Whenever the Bastards Killed Kara, she would be resurrected. Here colleagues only recalled the time when she wasn't. When the destiny was completed she returned to the other plain. She will return again.

The second child would have been male. Raised in a much harsher environment the jihad would have started 10-15 years earlier the rest is the same .

The whole "stasis chamber" element ruined any possible reactivation of the series. The various actors have AGED (died?) and some of them didn't have much aging available.

Dip’n dots might have been a path in Dune, they weren’t, but they might have been. That’s probably the best thing about great works that echo through time, there’s no might or maybe in them, they’re written down and you can read what they are.

I always thought the BG's assumption that they could control the KH was arrogant and short-sighted. It kinda defeats the whole purpose of the KH, who would surely beat his own drum regardless of his conditioning.

One thing i never understood was why didnt the Atreides family keep caladan like the Harkonnen kept gedi prime as well as arrakis they could have stayed on caladan and ran dune at the same time. Any answers??

Interesting video, Elaine. Psychopathy runs in families, and has a genetic component. With Fayd being a psychopath, there's a good probability the QH would also be a psychopath. In this timeline, the emperor would be like a combined Hitler/Stalin/Mao. Sounds fun to me!

I am very anxious about it. First of all I don't like gender swaps because I don't remember any one that would improve the adaptation. Secondly the book is a masterpiece in its own way so if developers don't want to be judged particularly harshly they have to make the story really good. I will treat it as a "what if" approach and hopefully this way it won't annoy me.
