That's the first time I have seen a realistic looking suspension set up for this model. Mine is an SAS version however so needs a very soft suspension to simulate the very heavily loaded SAS jeep. Is there a suitably soft shock that looks the same? I would also highly recommend fitting a micro servo into the figures chest, mounting the head directly into the spindle and connecting it with a 'Y' lead into the steering wheel servo. You will need an in line reversing unit as well. The difference the head turning with the steering wheel makes is significant and always gets the most comments.

I don’t think this requires any parts. Just trimming. If you email us at [email protected] we can send pictures we took while we this via WhatsApp. This allows the drivers head height and seating position to be a lot better.

We thought that too! My main reason for buying the Willys was to correct this error😂😂😂
@Del350K49 ай бұрын
Frankly, I'm practically speechless - these are a list of eminently well thought-out modifications. Some, such as painting the light reflectors, take more time than money and offer a huge 'return' for that time. Others, such as the 3D printed longitudinal roof bars for the canvas tilt, are a triumph of ingenuity. And where you have put money into the Jeep, such as the leaf-spring conversion, you've spent that money wisely. Good work all around!
@RCModders9 ай бұрын
Thank you Del. I’m pleased with the changes I made to this. And surprisingly it actually performs better (in our view) than the stock 4-link suspension - which felt all kinds of wrong to us 😂🤣

@@RCModders I remember being into full-size Suzuki SJ410s, and, despite their tremendous ability, yearning for coil springs. Yet now I deplore the fact that my WPL and MN Models FJ40 and 45s all have coils. It really is wrong! I love the 1:12 FMS Series IIA Land Rover.
@Del350K49 ай бұрын
Hello! Nice to speak to you again, after so long. I love these large-scale RC Jeeps - and the Suzuki from FMS - because they fulfill a desire that was born in me back in the days when I played with "Action Man" - the English equivalent of GI Joe - and yearned to own a Jeep the right size for him to sit in.
@RCModders9 ай бұрын
Thank you Del. Nice to hear from you too! Agree on the big-scale embedding in our brains from our childhoods. It was the same for me. I’ll let you into a little secret - I have both the 1/6 FMS L10 Jimny as well as the ‘Mashigan’ (Jeep YJ). And these have had the ‘treatment’ too. Once I’ve gone through the Willys Jeep mods I might video those as well - if there is interest😁
@Del350K49 ай бұрын
@@RCModders I hope that there will be enough interest to make it worth the trouble. Over the last 2 years my "view" numbers have plummeted, even as the number of people subscribed to my channel increases. This has made me reluctant to make videos as often as I used to, or indeed to put as much effort into production. I really should pull myself together and make a video soon.
@RCModders9 ай бұрын
@@Del350K4I guess we all have to find motivation for videos in different ways. Having created the mods for the Willys with Hal in the US we thought it would be interesting to share with folks and try and fund some of the stuff that Amazon keeps delivering! KZfaq stats can be a bit of a distraction.
@Del350K49 ай бұрын
@@RCModders Yes, that's true; they can indeed. Incidentally, I once owned a Suzuki LJ80, the European, larger-engined version of your Jimmy, but using the same body. I remember it very fondly.

nice build and great instructions. When you picked up the vehicle towards the end of the video to show articulation and droop, there doesn't seem to be much droop, is that because of the springs you installed in the shock? Have you had any issues with that?
@RCModders10 ай бұрын
Possibly. What I can say is that it really hugs the terrain nicely and moves like a proper crawler costing many times as much. On capability it blows all of my scx10 trucks, Axial Wraith and TRX4 out of the water! They all have to take a slightly easier route around my river!😂
