Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod kzfaq.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.

Yes a fishing 203 video!! Last time I watched one I was living in south Jersey tog fishing. Now I’m living in Florida fishing for red fish. I def miss tog tho glad your back at the videos. I'll take the valiant, made in cali.. my reels are all gonna be American avet accurate, penn made in USA, my rods will only be Allstars, sabre st croix lamiglas. Now some ugly stiks are made in America. No more Chinese stuff for me

*Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

Bail* and this reel isn’t made for ultralight. It’s a medium saltwater reel. If you want a really high quality freshwater reel grab a Shimano FK. That’s my personal favorite.

I’m on Long Island and I want an accurate bv I was thinking 400 2 speed as a reel that will do it all from catching porgy to tuna do you think the 500 would be too much ? My logic behind it is it’s a lever drag so I can set it to smaller fish like porgy but and set it higher for fluke and so on and being that the reel is only 17 oz it’ll be lighter then my avet mxl and I’ll also have 2 speed which is always good to have handy. I’m younger and want to make the right decision considering it’s a 650 dollar reel

it's 2021 and the shimano saragosa SWA just came out in 2020 with a SPX8 water rating. the slammer iii hasn't been updated since 2016, so why hasn't the price come down on the slammer iii's?
