Hey man love the video very helpful. I’m trying to do the same thing I have the same exact box. Wanted to ask what’s the purpose of the acetone? Is it necessary or can I get away with just sanding and spraying the bed coating?
@chino5819917 ай бұрын
You use it as a chemical cleaner to ensure the box doesn't have any chemical that won't allow the paint to bond

Working on one of those modular pre-fab houses and where the two halves meet is about 5.5” wide. This solution looks pretty good. Probably the better way for me rather than trying to make a frame and custom hang the door

I prefer Dupli-Color brand bed liner. Just because I've used it for years and always with great results.

I did the car the other day and it looked amazing at first. Hoping it hardens further as it still feels tacky after more than 24 hours. I lost a few flakes driving back today and worried about it sticking to the harder plastic. Hoping it holds in general now as I didn’t use an adhesion promoter either <<
@elcamino86sss3 жыл бұрын
It will harden. It is still holding up on my car just fine. Multiple washes and weather.
@jammin18813 жыл бұрын
@@elcamino86sss Appreciate the reply! It was this video that inspired me to do it! Something about the newspaper and tape!! Either way I’m hoping it holds << praying actually as it went on smooth. It wasn’t till I noticed a few flakes missing and it flaking. I’m hoping the plastic wasn’t to hard or shiny....... without an adhesion promoter.......

@elcamino86sss3 жыл бұрын
It’s held up great. Multiple washes and I keep it parked outside. I’ll do a follow-up video. Car looks 10 times better.

@@elcamino86sss You did a good job! I hope mine turns out as well and going to attempt it soon. I have five cans of black and waiting for the snow to melt! Maybe March I will have a go at the back number and test run a panel.

Looks great. What I'm wondering though is if it would be ok to buy prehung doors that are too small for doorway. My interior doors are odd sizes 33 1/4" width, and so I'm assuming if I got a 32" prehung door that there would be gaps on either side of frames. Would it be ok to fill gaps with wood pieces or would those gaps be too much?

May be alittle more money but you can always order doors for 2x6 walls and cut the jambs down to the size you need.

I had to use a split jamb door in the same situation. ( Home built in the late 50's/ early 60's) I did much the same method you did, with a piece of trim, only the space was in the middle of the jamb rather than the end. It took a lot more time because, I had to be more careful and shim the frame more securely due to the split being in the middle rather than the end. It worked out well...

Looks nice. THANK YOU for this video. We had the same problem and our handyman said he will use a Door Jamb Extension Kit which is pretty much what you've done They sell them at Home Depot and Lowes www.lowes.com/pd/Masonite-Entry-Door-Frame-Extender-Common-36-in-x-80-in-Actual-36-in-x-80-in/1000049307 The only thing is the instructions say to install BEFORE installing the door, but we have already hung the door as you did too, so i guess it can be done after.
