I think this is the year that the balloon d'or fell off. I'm not saying that modric didn't deserve it he was a monster he led Croatia to a world cup final won the champions league but I do think that Ronaldo had a better year especially in the champions league

The guy was the best player at the 2018 world cup,leading Croatia(who were grouped in the previous world cup) to their first ever final...this is the major reason he won every individual award before you even talk about the champions league. Cristiano got knocked out by a bang average Uruguay in R16 which a star filled Portuguese team in comparison!

Messi deserved being 2nd in Ballon D'or ranking. Congrats Luka Modric for winning Ballon D'or in Messi & Ronaldo era and beating Ronaldo's PR. Also glad he was the one who handed over next Ballon D'or to Messi. Amazing player, would love seeing his chemistry with Messi and the team in Inter Miami.

Nah, Ronaldo's PR domination has to be stopped. Messi has quality over quantity and this is why he stayed on top unlike Ronaldo and won everything that he could win. Ronaldo got 4x more Ballon D'ors just because of this fake rivalry and his insane PR. Modric and Benzema deserved their Ballon D'ors and it's a shame Ronaldo didn't congratulate his own ex teammates unlike RM's rival Leo Messi.

no he didnt. If it wasnt for The world cup factor, which made modric rightfully win, Salah deserved a lot more than Cr7. Cr7, in games he didnt score, like the semifinal and final of ucl, contributed nothing to the team. Salah played 3 times better than cr7 that season, even if he scored less (still scored like 45 goals that season)
