This single act is so horrific. Rather than targeting military compounds, they drop them on civilians. How is it any different than what Stalin and Hitler did? Targeting civilians.

BS, it didn't kill over 70k or 40k in an INSTANT! Both bombs only had an instant kill range of less than one forth of a mile, OR LESS. And they didnt melt, they vaporized. Flash burns made up 70% of all burns from those bombs. Actually most deaths came well past that point. Many died even weeks after the initial explosions. Now if you want to discuss your hyped up destruction of atomic weapons, lets discuss "thermo nuclear weapons." We use ww2 style nukes to detonate hydrogen bombs actually. Theres some melted butter. But even they have limited close in to ground zero for your melted butter skin effect🙄. Also, the majority of all buildings destroyed were made of wood and paper which most know is Japan's main home building material of choice in those days. Fire storms ravaged those citys just as incineratary bombs had done in Japan once bombing campaigns began there. Education matters...click bate, not so much.

I understand the deadly consequences of the nuclear weapons and lives lost but take a step back and think about the horrific sneak attack on pearl harbor and the lives of our own military personnel and others. Just like people showing sympathy for the 9/11 ringleaders and saying that they were "tortured" and treated badly? Go watch the videos of the planes hitting the towers and innocent people who didn't want to burn alive and instead would rather jump to their death. I'm a combat veteran and still kinda young I guess, 33 years old, but Rob o Neil the navy seal said it best, war is mentally challenging especially for us serving and everyone always used to say or ask why are we fighting? Well Rob said it best, we are fighting for the woman who dropped her kids off at school on 9/11 and she chose to jump to her death and her last moment of human decency was to hold her skirt up as she fell so nobody would see under her skirt 😞💔. My point is that don't poke the United States bear and then complain when we hit back harder! 🇺🇲❤️💪

Wrong. Japan had already surrendered when we dropped the bombs. We just did it anyway because we're usually scumbags when it comes to war.

My god how ignorant are most people here! Firstly, you can't simply blame US or Japan for their roles. It's been a 'he said, she said' for hundreds of years, culminating in WW2. Secondly, the US didn't drop the bombs for shits and giggles, they didn't do it because they were evil. The USSR was a superior powerhorse, it suffered devastating losses and still sent more and more men against Nazi Germany. In a war of attrition and sheer determination the US knew the USSR would win. It was no secret Stalin wanted all of Germany and most of the land Hitler took. The US had to show the USSR and the world invasion and conquest of Europe must stop. It made the world pause, that a country had the power and actually could destroy a city in a single blast stopped things in a heartbeat. They brought about peace. If you're going to call them evil, consider that they might have been a necessary evil.

meanwhile, Britain, which calmly oppressed the peoples: and now we are for democracy, you are independent, and the poverty of these territories...this is already your problem. Democracy extends only to independence, and compensation for the horrors of Britain's colonial policy is already the problem of the colonies. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Common Historical Misconception: Japan surrendered only AFTER the Soviet Union declared war and not after they got nuked twice. Like cmon, do you really think a dictator cares about his people? No they don't! (unless they are populist which is another story) Hirohito and Japan's Government cared about only themselves and not the people. They surrendered only after the Soviets invaded just because they din't want to be imprisoned in Soviet Gulags in Siberia.
