Metal harbour and green forest could be one level since the locations are pretty close together. I can already imagine a sequence with Sonic running across the water from one location to the other.

The GameCube Era was Nintendo at their most creative and interesting before they started focusing on gimmick consoles.

My only issue with the inclusion of Nightmare Zone is that it feels more like a boss rush than an actual level. I do get where you're coming from, but I feel the point of Generations was to put a new spin on old levels while still keeping them familiar.

I played Sonic R on PC, and loved it.

I like Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and I feel bad for anyone who considers these two half’s different.

i'd love a proper generations 2 that sonic 1-starlight zone could work as cities aren't as overused as green hill zone though scrap brain zone could be interesting even if chemical plant takes notes from it sonic 2-mystic cave zone or oil ocean/death egg sonic3-ice cap,angel island or launch base and just use the original music sonic cd which got skipped for no reason-collision chaos,quartz quadrant or wacky workbench mixing their futures. sonic adventure sa2-metal harbor would be my pick as it/green forest are the best sonic stages sonic heroes-egg fleet as it's the best airship level(wing fortress is too short/mostly bad difficulty spike) as it's an adventure game 06-dusty desert unleashed-windmill isle,adabat,holoska or mazuri sonic colors-it handles the amusement park theme the best would choose sweet mountain/starlight carnival/asteroid coaster sonic lost world-would just have it be a runthrough the lost hex fighting the deadly 6 as mini-bosses to a new area. sonic mania-press garden(most unique level) or studiopolis as they're the best new levels. forces-aqua road though tbh would just have infinite as a boss to represent it and use the way better advance games memorable levels as rush got a level. sonic frontiers-tour through the islands sonic superstars-cyberstation with nights helping you considering she got a robot design.

I would love it if Ice Cap took from both the Sonic 3 and SA1 versions of Ice Cap. Maybe the Classic version could be closer on the Sonic 3 stage while the Modern version could be based on the Adventure version, but elements from both cross over in both acts.

Ps2 isn’t even retro, the games on that console are 3d just like now, controller is the exact same 4 triggers 4 face buttons two clickable analog sticks a dpad select and start. It can’t just be old it’s gotta behave in s manner we no longer do. Otherwise wearing shoes is also retro
