Imagine if sonic forces they were 9 playable characters like sonic, shadow and espio had boost gameplay, knuckles and rouge would have the treasure hunting gameplay, tails would have the mech gameplay, omega and vector would have combat gameplay, and silver would have telekinesis but in a more puzzly way, cream amy and charmy would not be playable because they would be leading the resistance

The video is making me realize just how incredible Sonic Unleashed's opening cutscene *truly* is. Everything you need to know about the musical storytelling, going into the game completely blind for the first time, is clearly communicated to the audience. Eggman's leitmotif is introduced, Sonic's quickly follows it, and they fall into their usual song and dance. Sonic's new leitmotif is established and it's quickly shown to conflict with Eggman's. Then Dark Gaia is thrown into the mix. By the end of the scene we know Sonic's goals, his motivation, the adversaries and obstacles in his way, and we can associate all of it with the core leitmotifs that will be used and built upon throughout the story. This isn't even mentioning how Sonic's theme is already evolving throughout this one scene alone. This is *fantastic* set-up. It's not complicated or even super deep but it's clear and so so effective.

I am a pretty big time travel fan. And I am also a big sonic fan. So naturally the silver future boy resonates with me. And yeah I do think the duality of Shadow and silver is pretty good. The guy who had nothing but time and lost hope and the guy with nothing but hope and no time. And their stories are pretty similar as well. They are both brought in by the villain as part of their evil plan to take down sonic. After this they meet amy who gives them a new perspective on the way things are and they are both ultimately motivated by the death of a close friend who they couldn't save because maria/blaze was saving Shadow/Silver to help sonic no matter the cost. Shadow protects the world because of his past promise and silver does it because of his future one. But ultimately the thing that the both learn and grow form the most is Sonic. Because it was shadows relationships with sonic that helped him mentor silver. Anyway that's a lot but yeah silver needs more love thrown his way because there is a lot you can do with that kinda character.

Solaris Phase 1 has an incredible quality going on: It is basically Mephiles' boss theme, but using the powerful orchesta Iblis uses in all its themes. Mephiles' structure backed by Iblis' power, AKA what Solaris pretty much IS. It was a genius move that took me a long while to notice.
