Flip flop like a fish out of water. At least for my personal projects. Commissions, gifts or requests from friends family seem easier to track from beginning to end.

Lovely work, but I can't believe there's a sign in the Ardennes for the motorway from Nurnberg to Berlin! Nurnberg is over 600km east of the Ardennes.

I'm not a flip-flopper so much as I am an absolute coward. For example, I've had a centurion Mk5 AVRE unfinished on the shelf for 2 years or more because I was so pleased with the paint finish that I was too scared to weather the damn thing! That hasn't changed by the way, it's still sitting on the shelf staring at me!

Hey Clayton, beautiful work as always! :) One small nitpick from a German guy though: You might want to remove the sign "Reichsautobahn Nürnberg-Berlin". This would not be anywhere near the Ardennes. It's a little bit like if the signs "San Francisco, 1 mile" and "LaGuardia airport this way" were on the same sign post. ;)

Uff nice dilema you pose at the end. I personally do not flip flop in models that require assembling. Reason being is that yeah, the issue of storage other than place them in their box but what would happen if I were to put something heavy on top of it? So I see the model to its bitter end lol😂 (which is not bitter as it is something joyful to see them complete). However since I’m a adamant artillery lover, only twice I set some of the German ww2 artillery pieces on the side because of the sheer number of small parts that was just driving me nuts to do until I was able to finally finish one of those pieces and still have the other yet to be competed (the German möser). But yeah, I build them straight away… although that can’t be said about buying more and more and more sets vs the ones I’m doing as I build them one at a time and buy 3 at a time 😂😂😂 and my mother is not very happy about that as well as my wallet and my closet 🤣🤣🤣

Superb little scene Clayton 👍 About your fear ... on yellow snow 😅 I have to vignett's I made more then ten years ago. Snow also made from baking soda ,pva and Salt (for sprinkles) .No Varnish and they are still white and not yellowish 😊 I have only a handful of unfinished modells in my stash collectet over the last decade. Normaly a built and paint a model complete before I start a new project. In the last three years I paintet mostly figures to become a better figure painter. And my effort payed off. But now i have some "Problems" when it comes to built AFV Kits. Not with rhe build as such but with the wheatering 🙈😂 Happy modelling and greetings from good old Switzerland

Great job seeing that kit through to the end . I try to build one kit at a time , but as many of us do ,I have a shelf of doom that has half built kits sitting on it. As long as they are on the shelf they still have a chance of being completed one day , but if I put it back in the box that usually means it is done for .. never to see the light of day ever again. Life is too short to be frustrated by our hobby . That weasel would have been a boxed kit for sure.. (never did buy one) Keep up the great work, I always look forward to your videos.

I built an old Tamiya sdkfz 251 kit from 1970 a couple of months ago and it still remains as a good value option… all you’ve got to do is add some aftermarket kits and do a proper painting and weathering job…In a few days I’m going to build a Dragon 251 falke; let’s check the differences between this and the old Tamiya

A great little dio for the Weasel Clayton, and the road signs and figure really set the scene. Shamefully, I am one of those modellers you referred to, that drop everything when the latest ‘Shiny New Thing’ as you put it, catches my attention, and I will put aside what I am working on and attack it with gusto. Subsequently of course, I have quite a few half finished kits waiting for some TLC. I have taken steps to remedy this situation, and I have put myself on notice that models that I am currently working on, must be completed before I start working on a newly delivered kit. I have even put up a sign to that effect in my hobby room! However, whether my resolve will weaken is in the hands of the Gods I’m afraid. Again, an outstanding result with the little Weasel. Cheers until the next project mate!

Most of the time i build the model, thinking i will do the running gear later so weathering is easier. Then i come to painting and i just do the primer. Airbrushing is hard because i am either at work or playing with my daughter or she is asleep and i dont want her to wake up from the compressor. Then i build a new one. And repeat the cycle

@workbenchhobbies4316 Күн бұрын
I understand. The struggle is real. I guess at the end of the day if doing what you are doing is bringing you joy then that’s a good thing. Just think of all the kits you’ll have to paint when she’s older and you can run your compressor 🥳 thanks for taking the time to connect

One of the tricks to stop baking soda from yellowing is to mix a small amounts of white acrylic paint and gloss acrylic varnish. So far, baking soda is still holding strong.

Awesome review. The Takom hetzer is a tremendous value for the money. Level of detail of the parts is superb. I've purchased the early and mid variants. A huge bonus that interior components is included as is a metal barrel. I absolutely enjoy full interior builds. Takes the model to a different level. It's great kits are now including interiors. Year's ago for many kits, if one wanted to build the interior, expensive resin aftermarket components were the option. Such as what CMK produced. The only thing that I plan on doing with my build is using Fruil metal track links.

The same quality in the tracks that people complain about, can ALSO be used to make a MUCH better final result. "Memory" in the vinyl material makes the tracks want to be rounder and less accurate. You can carefully "over-bend" the tracks to more closely fit the bogies. Also try very warm, but not boiling water. I've also found the tracks fit better with the 1/2 end-connectors removed, and the tracks cxarefully joined with a staple hidden on the very bottom, in the middle....Look very carefully at the shapes of the real deal, to see what I mean.... But, GREAT MODEL here, the dirt looks especially nice!....

Hi there. Thanks for your question. All of these chipping mediums are water based. That’s how they work. The water reactivates they and they allow for the top layer of paint to be chipped away. So..clean with water. Hope that helps 💪☝️🙏
