Yndislegt - Kæru bræður. Íslenska Kirkjuvaldið náði að "kveða" niður dansa á Íslandi, en eitthvað er til af dönsum (rímum) sem voru skráðar eftir minni, hér og þar. Að auki er til mikið safn rímna sem voru vinsæll kveðskapur - Allt þar til [Helvítið hann] Jónas [djöfull] Hallgrímsson sagði þennan kveðskap forsmán og lágkúru, nú skyldu menn kveða undir þýskum og ensk/frönskum ljóðahætti eins og hin miklu ljóðskáld Evrópu. - Og réðst með skítkasti á allan rímnakveðskap sem gefinn var út í hans tíð. Þessi boðskapur var borinn í þjóðina í einu af fáum erlendu frétta-ritum landsins árum saman. Þannig varð þetta einhvern veginn að skömm og heimsku þegar alþýðan vari að skemmta sér við að kveða rímur á kvöldin. Komið nú og kennið Íslendingum aftur að dansa. Talið við "Kvæðamannafélagið Iðunn", þar þekki ég til og hef heyrt marga fallega rímu kveðna. Þeir halda líka námskeið fyrir kennara sem vilja koma þessu á framfæri. Að kveða norræna dansa ætti að vera skyldunám í öllum grunnskólum!

Big love and respect to the people of the Faroese nation!. This Is pure power to me and I am grateful to have found this. I wish young Swedes had more interests in our native traditions and culture. hey, I don't see that anyone else has let you know anything. so I would recommend that you contact "kringvarp Føroya", they are the national television station, and the the only ones I can imagine, having recorded this. their website is www.Kvf.fo and their contact info is probably at the bottom of their page. cheers.

Lyst å lage en Brimi parodi selv, men da krever jeg av meg selv å lære dialekten perfekt først. Bra parodier han lager Bjarne Rimi, for han hedrer Brimi og det fortjener han så sannelig. Arne Brimi er en bra mann.

Vi i bygda mi på Straumsnes på Nordmøre kjenner godt til folk fra Lom og dialekten, fordi det i flere tiåer har vært arrangert Lom tur for syvendeklassinger hver høst. og til våren kom syvendeklassen fra Lom til besøk til oss. Syns det er ei fin dialekt. Kunne tenkt meg å vært der ei stund og lært meg den dialekten. Vært artig å møte Arne Brimi også.

Seen that, been there, it is just hypnotising. Whole song would be over 22 minutes long so before end you can sing the chorus pretty well

This is great, I wish our great king would have been able to avoid the cowardly ambush by the swedes and Danes, but alas it's history and our great ship has long been lost. Such a great song from the islands, and great to still see it being song today! We still sing the Norwegian version but it's nothing compared to this! Alle mine lykkeønskninger til Færøyene, flott sang! Akk, jeg ønsker meg tilbake til det gamle norske riket med Færøyene, orkenøyene, Island og Grønland alle samlet under den norske konge!

Faroe Islanders be proud and stand strong , begin the song and chain dance again and continue forevermore into eternity!

Melkutus We used to, 1000 years ago. We had many types of singing of dancing. But we lost that connection to our rich heritage, the Northmen kept it and our shared religion going - for whatever reason. Which is why they also have more runic texts, unlike Germans who simply weren't into writing stuff down or maintaining an oral tradition. All the tribal heritage is lost forever, and songs like that above only offer a hazy glimpse into our own past. Just imagine how awesome the warsongs of the Harii must have been, for example. They inspired the Einherjar and the Wild Hunt. Our oldest song is the Hildebrandslied, but that's just one of many.

Jógvan Thomsen Å jo da. Islandsk er nærmere norrønt. Men det er også forskjeller der, siden det er et levende språk. Færøysk er så nært norsk at en vestlending stort sett forstår det.

This is faroese we talk nearest to old norse but our way to type it is diffrent but if we hear people talk old norse we can easly understand :)
