My nephew started an apprentiseship as a hgv mechanic or for an hgv firm . Im just wondering whats the 5 most required tools he will need .... 1) I was thinking milwaukee 12v right angeled rachet but all the lads said the right angeled impactor is alot stronger more torque for loosing an tightening things esp on a lorry (need your opinion) 2) a stubby 12v milwaukee for comfort where it can be used 3) a good selection of bars an various sockets ?? But which size do i get 3/8 or 1/2 an which make is good value for rent .... iv 3 kids of my own an i seen a mikwaukee bundle ..Nut gun 18v rachet3/8ths 12v an stubby impactor 12v £550 with a wee bag for him an all i told his dad i would go halfs way him an sent th link .... but hes lookn a tool box an socket sets an oik filter removers for hgv an i dont know which 1s to buy for him bro... uno that way ..
@freightlanetv22 күн бұрын
Hi thank you for the comment, the first thing I would get is maybe like a Halfords set with sockets, spanner’s, extensions and ratchets in, then a good torch, tapping hammer as you’ll need that a lot, then if your going for power tools I’d recommend Milwaukee 1/2 gun and maybe 3/8, some good strong 1/2 impact sockets and as for filters most vehicles are 36mm head on the oil filter cap and a good filter strap, like a fabric one would be best.
@allyally535926 күн бұрын
Change the oil pump and those rubber orings from those 2 tubes because that is your main problem , look at air compressor to and to the crankcase gas module because those are common problems on Detroit engines of Mercedes.

I do enjoy watching others work lol...amazing how different manufaturers engine do look alike and how they do things ,,ie the EGR cooler on the merc compared to the DAF ...It is probably a small end knock ie the gudgeon pin as you found ..They type of jobs are a pain / worry as to strip it etc then put it back together and it still knocks is my worse nightmare ,Especially when it is a customers vehicle ,,nothing is cheap nowdays along with the labour costs ,,Back when the LF was launched 2001 i think ,it was then about 2006 we had a few of the cummins with a small end knock..You need to get one of those clip on mics that looks like a pager of old ,as the sound quality is letting you down ...From the distance they merc discs looked ok ..To many people down discs for cracks when they are totally servicable ..heat cracks are fine ,i even think you are allowed up to a mil when it comes to how wide it can be ,,As long as it is not the whole width of the disc , sadly due to age i can't remember all the criteria lol but that is what manuals and bulletins are for lol...I was impressed how easy the disc came off ,,That wouldn't happen on the small FTP axle ,that comes off in a hundred bits ...Are you at the Royal Mail now ??

Hi. With any Mercedes with SAM / SSAM etc you need to allow all systems to fully shut down to clear faults. Especially EBS as this has a safety data memory back up which will only clear with a control unit reset even if the fault is fully repaired. Ignition off, keys out, unplug diagnostic interface & wait for the dash screen to totally shut down. Then ignition on & re-scan. Try this before going any further! You may have fixed the fault without realising it.

They do, well can, but not in the way you're describing, back in the late eighties, me and two other fitters had to move an old truck that had been parked for a while. We got it going, all jumped in the cab and moved off, I said you better try the brakes, which he did, then it felt like the whole truck was going over, we all realised at the same time it was just the cab, we sat looking at the road p155ing ourselves with laughter. The old trucks used to have a bolt mechanism to hold the cab down, this had not be done up. It was certainly a very weird feeling!
