The majority of yhe people at the beginning of the war did support the Germans and the conntinued inpart to support them both to attempt to survive and because they were fellow Catholics but the Russian speaking part of Ukraine, the Donbass region, didn't support or submit to the Germans and very few, if any, joined the SS.
