52:32 One of the best performances of this part. As if you're 80 years old, sitting on a balcony overlooking the ocean, looking out at the sunset, reminiscing over memories.

Yeah, I am also estimating Bruckner 9 recordings by this moment. Here it is something in between i.e. Abbado's semolina porridge and Matacic's acute attack.

Yeah it's quick, but it makes sense. This is Beethovens little jewel of a symphony why stretch it out? It's not the Eroica.!

All in all, Beecham’s version is the one to go the distance with. Especially good are the second movement and the last movement. Second Movement - pacing is perfect allowing the sense of despair to sink in, and the resolution is appropriate in that it carries on without feeling of interruption, and it gives rise to a sequence consisting of: licking your wounds, contemplating on the despair, acceptance, and moving on with optimism. Most conductors would make you feel let down after the main theme plays out. Beecham understands enough to keep the line taut and maintain forward motion. Last movement - also perfect pacing, with enough forward momentum to get to the final release in full throttle. What an out cry for a victory shout out! There’s no hesitation, no artificial manipulation, a straight gallop to its logical climax. Terrific!

I sure wish he took the reigns of this orchestra after Szell. Listen to this live recording and his Rite of Spring with this orchestra. Both were amazing. Maazel was a big mistake. Why do orchestra boards so often make disaterous mistakes. Boston taking Levine also comes to mind.

This great performance illustrates the conductor's musical understanding. His tempos are perfect, and each different strand and colour of the music is brought out and and displayed. Highly satisfying,. The special talent of Bruckner is on display here.

This sounds look like Revolution no.9 The Beatles. John lennon and Yoko Ono recorded that song. I wonder that they had been affected by Stockhausen - Kurzwellen.
