I wonder why character's justified reluctance to not help those who did not help him, and or disdained his company, was not developed. Film has a moral agenda. Film only amplified a one-way concept of mutual responsibility. Film glossed over, apart from that one line, that those who now need help do not or have not given it when it was their position to do so.

Dear Ruth, until a few days ago, I had never known about the people of the forest or ever heard the name Bielski. I have watched the movie 3 times already and I’m sure I will watch it again. I have more questions after listening to your account of your father and his selflessness in what he did during the war. I am sure both of your parents suffered from PTSD, although there was no terminology for what they experienced during their time during and after WW2. My father served in the Navy during the war, was severely injured. As I was growing up, he never once spoke about his time in the Navy or life after. It was not until I was much older and after my fathers passing that I regretted not talking to him about it. So many questions that will never be answered. I have 3 questions : traveling back to Europe, have you ever visited the forest where any of their camps were? Does anything remain? Did any of the family members keep in contact with Chaya or her daughter after the war? Did any of the Bielski family members lose their lives in any of the death camps? I have always had a very deep interest in Jewish people, their customs and traditions, as far back as I can remember. I think that interest deepened as I grew older and learned about the devastation to the Jews, during the war, at the hands of the Nazi’s. I still have difficulty in understanding how the Nazi’s could have such a deep hatred in their hearts. Especially since Hitlers mother was Jewish. It is all so very sad. I am going to read the books written about the Bielski’s. God Bless you and your family. You must be so proud of what your father accomplished during the War in helping to save so many people. Blessings, Nancy Janiszewski

I wouldn't really call Queen Elizabeth to be little at the time. She was 13 when war broke out (that's teenager), and by the end of it she was mechanic and driver in British troops.

i am so inspired by the bielski brothers & this woman is important in their story. Just seeing her here emphasises to me the power of the human spirit. When I am in any way feeling down or feeling a bit sorry for myself I turn to the courage exhibited by the Jews and others during the madman Hitler's time in power.
