the amount of yellow removed is criminal, taking on count we talk about tatoine... They moved it too close to mustafar, there was no need, is almost like everybody that came later did decide to change the sand location from one place to another, Im oppinion the "Egyptian" vives and golden tones are the proper ofr tatoine

1:30 I don't know whether to call out this BS scene for reversing the footage two or three times, or applaud it for paying homage to the reversed footage moments in Star Wars and Empire.

Original film color looks best. Disney has that fancy HDR crap, but it feels too Earth-like. The original film almost looked like it had a desert haze over it. The remaster looks so... normal and bland. Edit: FFS, the remasters make it look like they're in a GD oasis! What a joke!

So when do we get the full release? LotR is a prime example of dedicated fans sitting down for literal hours to enjoy an extended cut. Would love to see these movies fully unadulterated. (If such films do exist, please tell me.)

They should have left Sebulba flashing his vents! Anakin even mentions it in the movie!

I would love to see every FULL Star Wars film like this so that not a SINGLE scene is missing. IDC if it would make it an hour or two longer, I would love it.

I should be surprised that the color grading of the theatrical version is better than the others, but I'm not

This just made me realize I’ve only ever seen the theatrical version of the phantom menace. I’m sure I’ve seen later versions of the other prequels, but so much of this was totally new to me. We had all of the Star Wars movies on VHS tapes that I watched over and over again growing up, so I’m assuming those versions were all theatrical (besides the changes George Lucas made to the original trilogy)

Somewhere I have a special release box of Episode 1 that has a piece of film from the "cutting room floor" in it that my Dad got me for Christmas. It was of the two headed announcer I think...I always wondered if they just said that's what it was but now I'm curious, haha. I should go find it!

Vader was referred to as "Lord of the Sith" upon Star Wars’ release, including (iirc) the paper program that i got in the theater the first time i saw it. It might not have made it into the films, but absolutely the Sith were known of, though not in any specific way. If you look back at old scifi magazines like Starlog from the late 70s and early 80s you’ll probably find mentions. In fact scifi fans liked to debate on what the Sith were.

I never understood how obi wan becomes more powerful if he is struck down. Well he got strucked down and he dont seem poweful how is being a ghost powerful hes dead? All he does is he talks Luke at the end tells him to trust the force and the next film starts telling luke to go find yoda and then later reasons with yoda to train luke later on in the last movie tells him about yoda will be with him always and about his twin sister. How the F*ck is that powerful?

I believe a DVD cut (probably circa 2011 or) is what aired when they re-showed this film in theaters for the 25 year anniversary this year (2024) as all of the DVD-cut's content was present, and the later version of CG yoda that replaced the 1999 puppet was also in said print. I say it wasn't the 2019 version because it was not a very clean print. Perhaps the projectionist did this or perhaps it's just that way, but the version I saw again this year had very flat contrast to 'hide' the dated CG throughout the film. The podrace scene holds-up extraordinarily well on the big screen 25 years later.
