I personally seem to make small talk fine... actually making lasting connections that progress? hah... Never has happened ; x ; I really want to find meaningful connections with fellow cosplayers.. and finally maybe.. hopefully get a cosplay boyfriend... but... such is getting harder and harder to hope for sadly..

I have no problems making small talk etc with others in the convention spaces.. Yet no one actually wants to really get to know me in depth sadly afterwards or for future con cosplay groups etc. Really don't know what I am doing wrong. -_-, I often go to cons alone because I haven't found friends who are genuine and wish to include me with them on the days etc. I often go to Brisbane Supanova /Comic con and am due to be at Brisbane Kai Con for the first time because this year's cosplay is complete already... It is saddening because I am longing for genuine connections... my tribe if you will. ; x ;

Meanwhile, I have thought though my next years cosplay before this years conventions~ Storage is a pain in the ass because I still live at home. Give me a complete room or two for all my costume creations? I'll be good~! Also, cutting / styling your wigs on your actual head will mostly get rid of the issues of over cutting/ styling portions incorrectly~ :D I also try to clean as I go when I am doing projects and then do a 6 month cosplay culling (including supplies..) and so? Don't get hording problems~! :D

You're a hero for this. Me and my bestie discovered recently that we're the exact canon heights of Atem and Yugi so we're going to cosplay them next year. My unquelled enthusiasm made me jump straight into the planning and you helped me so much to get an idea how to make the belt! I was also going to make his white garment a two piece, but a dress might actually be smarter. I have a question though! How did you get the craftfoam to hold its shape like that for the belt and other pieces? Did you use heat and then painted it in glue? Thank you so much!

You're gonna struggle to find someone. Or, You're gonna have conflict. A LOT. When you struggle to love yourself, it's difficult for others to do the same, and relationships are difficult. Attracting a partner is tough, because: 🚫 You're negative 🚫 You self-depreciate 🚫 Sad Boi energy NONE of these these qualities are fun to be around 🙅‍♀️ ---- "But I'd love myself more if I had someone to love me!" If you do start dating someone, 'not loving yourself' will start showing up like: ⚠️ Am I good enough for them? ⚠️ Will they leave me? ⚠️ Do you really love me? Your insecurities will keep showing, you'll become dependant on your partner to validate you, and you'd be living in a constant state of worry and fear of being 'enough' for them. ---- Learning to love yourself means: ✅ Not worrying what others think about you ✅ Knowing you are always 'enough' ✅ Not needing validation from others Discovering how to love yourself means you'll be able to begin and maintain relationships much easier, and in a healthier way 👍✨ What does self-love look like to you? ⬇️⬇️⬇️ ✅ Follow @mangalphantom and @very.jeremy for more! #loveyourself #relationships #selflove #selfhelp #validation #insecurity #sadboi #partner

We're not meant to get along with everyone we meet. We have different views, lifestyles, values, opinions and interests, and we're always going to find other people we clash with. 😀 "But I actually get along with everyone I meet" → On a surface level, yes, that's a great thing to have with most people. On a deeper level, it's unlikely you'd want to spend more than 5 minutes with every person you meet. 😡 "But I actually do get along with everyone on a deeper level?" → Then you're probably being fake. If you agree with everyone you meet and never clash, you're a people pleaser with no real values. 🥺 "But I do that to avoid conflict with people" → Then don't spend time with those people. If you have to be fake to be around them, they're not actually people you get along with 😰 "But I need to put on a mask sometimes otherwise some people will hate me" → Then take off your mask and let those people hate on you. You'll find other people who will love you for who you are without a mask. 🤔 "Shouldn't we try to get along with everyone?" → We should be civil with everyone, yes. But trying to forge a deeper connection with every person you meet just won't work. Take off your mask. Be loved and hated for being you. Find your people. When you meet someone new, you know nothing about that person so there should be heaps to talk about! But we feel like we have nothing to say because of thoughts like this: 😰 What if they think I'm creepy? 😰 What if I say something stupid? 😰 What if my hobbies are strange? When you meet someone new, the point of a conversation is to find out if the two of you VIBE. Sometimes there's no vibe at all. Sometimes you'll be besties in 2 minutes. Sometimes it takes a while to figure it out. Regardless of the outcome, that's what you should aim to uncover! Skip weather and work topics, go straight for: 🌞 Passions - what you wake up for 💫 Lifelong dreams - how they formed ✨ Best/most embarrassing memory with friends 🚩 Red flags on dates 🤯 What would you do in X (ridiculous) situation? 💚 Green flags in people 🤦 Most trouble you've ever been in Asking questions like these will help you share cool life stories with each other, help figure out the type of person they are, and if you'd get along with them or not. So don't be afraid to ask questions and share things about yourself. Maybe you'll get along, maybe you won't. But showing off your true self to everyone you meet will put yourself in the best position to make new besties - and make chats with every stranger just so much more fun ✨ If you're struggling with conversation and would like some specific advice for your situation, send me a DM, let's chat, and I might be able to give you a hand 👍✨ What's your go-to question for fun conversations with strangers? ⬇️ #conversation #chats #vibe #vibes #goodvibes #conversationtips #confidencetips #friends

I was a shy kid from an all-boy school, with a profound interest in drawing, video games and anime. The desire to meet new people and make friends with similar interests was one of the biggest reasons I started cosplay in the first place 🤔. However, being shy and awkward in social situations (particularly with girls) made meeting people EXTREMELY difficult. It was tough to hold eye contact or a conversation for longer than a minute, and the thought of walking up to interesting strangers to say hi just TERRIFIED me 😰. Common thoughts that ran through my mind in social gatherings: ➡️"I hope someone will walk up to me and say hello, that would be much easier" ➡️"I hope my friends know some interesting people and introduce me" ➡️"If I wear this popular cosplay, I hope someone will notice me" And as you guessed it, NONE of these things worked. Only after I started taking action for myself, did things start to change. The biggest thing I learnt: 🌞 You DO NOT have to stay shy and socially awkward. Social skills and awareness are things that can be practised, and CAN be improved. The only thing that might be holding you back, is YOU. The first step, will just be a little bit of courage 🙌🙌 I work with fellow geeks and cosplayers 1 on 1 to improve their own social skills and confidence! Regardless of your location, I might be able to help you out too! Shoot me a DM if you'd like to find out more! ➡️➡️➡️ #shy #awkward #sociallyawkward #anxiety #anxious #socialanxiety #sociallyanxious #antisocial #socialskills

This would be one of the most common bits of confidence advice you'd get. The problem is, IT SUCKS. 🤮 It says that you should act like a person with different qualities until those qualities become your own. This advice gets points because it encourages you to try SOMETHING, which is a better than nothing. But overall, it's crap. As you'd also be: ❌ Practising being a liar ❌ Reinforcing the idea that "you" aren't good enough ❌ Shutting down and learning to hate part of yourself ❌ Meeting people who only know you for the fake mask you wear Actually good confidence advice sounds like this: ➡️ "Learn to love yourself lots." This advice doesn't mean you stop trying to grow as a person, but it actively encourages that you: 🌞 accept both your strengths and weaknesses 🌜 don't need to be someone else to be an amazing person 💫 become happy and comfortable being in your own company 🌲 meet your people - where you don't have to act fake being around them If you fake it, you will fail. Instead, practise becoming comfortable with the genuine YOU, and you'll feel confidence you'll be much happier with ✨✨ But if building your confidence is something you struggle with, send me a DM and I might be able to help you out 🙏 #confidence #confidencetips #confidenceadvice #selflove #selfhelp #fakeittilyoumakeit #fakeituntilyoumakeit #fakeittillyoumakeit

And no, it's got nothing to do with your height, race, gender, religion or preference in starter Pokemon. It has EVERYTHING to do with the way you view things, and your actions/inactions. 😡 "I don't trust people, I've been betrayed before!" ➡️ Everyone is different, the person who broke your trust is not everyone 😬 "Making friends isn't easy these days" ➡️ How many conversations have you had with new strangers in the last year? I'm gonna guess your answer is "not many" - start some conversations! 🤔 "Where do I make friends??" ➡️ Wherever people exist! Clubs, societies, conventions etc! The age-old solid advice is: find groups/gatherings/meetups with subject matter you're interested in. 😒 "How am I the problem? I work on myself, I keep in touch with people, but no matter what I do, friends always seem to ditch me or never want to hang out after a while" ➡️ If this is a reoccurring theme with people in your life, It's quite likely that there's something off-putting about your attitude that you haven't noticed. 😎 "I don't need friends, I prefer to hustle and grind by myself" ➡️ You do you, dude. Life is so much richer with people in it. Why not hustle and grind while also having friends? The bottom line is that if you have trouble making or keeping friends, you can do something about it. Blaming the world won't help you, but taking proactive steps towards meeting new people will 👍✨ What are your favourite traits about your besties/ideal friends? ⬇️ #friend #friends #friendship #friendships #relationship #relationships #bestie #besties

For various reasons, guys like to refer to themselves as an "Alpha Male" or "Sigma Male". They do so because they think it gives the impression to others that they are: 😎 A dominant person 😎 Secure, strong-willed and independent 😎 A cut above the other "beta" males Little do they realise, it basically has the opposite effect. It makes them seem: 🚩 Insecure 🚩 Arrogant 🚩 Not safe to be around This is why - calling yourself an "Alpha male" indicates that: ☠️ you believe that you are "better" than other guys (labelled as "betas"). It's the same as shouting "I AM A SUPERIOR MALE!!!1!!". Very arrogant, and very embarrassing. 😒 you think, "idgaf what other people think because I am right!!!!" It also indicates that you're unlikely to admit when you're wrong, react badly to criticism, and be crap at listening. All red flag qualities 🚩👍 🤬 you're insecure as heck. If you were truly the strong, secure and confident person you claim, there should be NO NEED to mention it to world. Calling yourself an "Alpha" male - the quickest way to communicate you're a red flag, without saying you're a red flag 😎👍🚩 What are some other things that guys say that would be a red flag to you? ⬇️ #alpha #alphamale #alphamalestrategies #sigma #sigmamale #sigmagrindset #redflag #friendzone

The full breakdown ↓ We're not all born with it. But luckily, confidence is something you can practice. Here are some habits preventing you from improving: 1️⃣ You're scared of FAILURE What if I try and mess up? Won't I waste my time, embarrass myself? If I don't try, I can't fail, right? Ask anyone on this planet, not one person has attempted everything and been 100% successful. (If they claim this, they're lying 🤥) Try something, fail, learn, get better. Repeat. Don't aim to score 10/10. Score 576/1000 - you WILL feel those wins. 2️⃣ You care about what OTHERS THINK OF YOU But if I only score 576/1000, that's barely 50% success! People will look at the 400 times I failed! The truth is, most people are too busy worrying about themselves to worry about you. The ones cheering you on no matter the result are real ones. The ones who go out of their way to point out your shortcomings barely even know you. Why should you care what they think? 3️⃣ You keep judging yourself I only scored 576/1000, failing a huge 40% of the time! I'm no good at this, why am I even trying? That 424 failures also means you've had 576 successes! And you've learnt 424 ways that will NOT work. Learn from your losses, but don't dwell on them. Count your victories, and celebrate them! Also, 576/1000 wins is way more than 10/10 wins. ▶️ If you want to learn how to apply these lessons IRL so they STAY with you, send me a DM and I might be able to help! Let's grow together! 💪 What's a victory that YOU'VE celebrated recently? Let me know! 🥳⬇️ #confidence #confidencetips #confidencehacks #charisma #charismatips #charismahacks #selfcare #selfhelp

😠 "But it WAS a waste!" 😠 "Those are years I'll never get back!" 😠 "I could have spent that time with someone I'll ACTUALLY end up staying with!" Here's the thing, none of us are perfect. We do the best we can - but we will always end up making mistakes, making bad choices, and wishing we could have done things differently. But with any mistake we make - we learn from them. We become better each time. Relationships are no different. We choose someone who we believe is great for us. Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't. If it doesn't, and the relationship ends, we learn from it. We learn: ✅ Things we like/dislike in a partner ✅ What our boundaries are ✅ Our love languages ✅ Things that make us comfortable/safe We also learn: ⁉️ Things we suck at ⁉️ Traits we value in relationships ⁉️ What red flags look like ⁉️ The value of communication Unless you're super lucky, your first relationship is unlikely to be perfect. But with each relationship that passes, we get better at becoming: 👍 relationship material; and 👍 better at identifying the type of person who would suit you well as a partner. Time spent with old partners is used to learn about yourself and your values - things that can really only be learnt through being in a relationship. Learning from these experiences and improving yourself each time - this is what makes past relationships not a waste of time, but incredibly valuable. ✨ What's the biggest thing you've learnt from a past relationship? ⬇️ #relationship #relationshipadvice #partner #breakup #boundaries #lovelanguage #communication #boyfriend #girlfriend

As we get older, we start to feel like we're falling behind in life, like we're not where we feel we SHOULD be. "I'm XX years old, by now I should..." 🚩 Have THIS much money 🚩 Be in THIS relationship 🚩 Have THIS house/car/object 🚩 Have achieved THIS goal We look at the achievements of our peers, people online, and our family - and compared to everyone around us, we start to feel like a disappointment. 😭 Here's some things to keep in mind when you feel like you're falling behind: 🗓️ there is no "correct" age to achieve ANYTHING. Get married, get a house, have kids, get to a 6-figure salary - get them at 18, 28, 58, or don't get them at all! ⏳ who are you trying to please by achieving these things by a certain time? Your peers? Your parents? Society? The things you aim to achieve should be for YOU. 🌱 Your life is unique. The challenges you've faced, the struggles you've had to overcome, and the sacrifices you've had to make. No two lives are the same, so we can't expect our life to have the same results as someone else. So, don't count: 🚫 Things you don't have 🚫 Things you haven't achieved Instead, count: ✅ Things you DO have ✅ Things you HAVE achieved Be proud of the things you've gone through to get where you are today. You're not falling behind in life, you're exactly where you need to be, and you're doing great. You've got this. Just keep going. ✨ #life #falling #behind #goals #achieve #opportunity #deadline #proud

Should you cut contact with your good/best friends? 😲 . A bit of context: my best mate since high school was a really fun guy to be around. Similar interests, easy conversation, heaps of adventures together! . • As time went on, I grew. I learnt boundaries, self-respect and my own values. • As time went on, I realised how often my friend used to, and continued to overstep my boundaries and act against my values. • As time went on, I realised how much I let things slide because they were my friend. . 🚩 But they've always been like this! 🚩 It's a shame to end a long friendship! 🚩 Friends should forgive each other! 🚩 Friendship is difficult to find these days! . I tried pointing out their actions and explaining how disrespected I felt. But when they didn't seem to care and nothing changed, I knew it was time to stop hanging out with them. . . . I've learnt that true friends WON'T: ⁉️ Laugh at your expense ⁉️ Pull you down, to push themself up ⁉️ Get jealous when you succeed . I learnt that true friends WILL: ✅ Support your dreams and ambitions ✅ Share personal, intimate feelings ✅ Be reliable, trustworthy and honest with you ✅ Let you be yourself, without feeling judged . . . So ask yourself a very simple question: 📣 Does your friend make you feel good about yourself? . If the answer isn't "HELL YEAHHHH!!!" - it might be time to reconsider that friendship. . . . . . 🌞 And if you're having a tough time making friends or setting boundaries, send me a DM and I might be able to help! . . . #friend #friendship #bestfriends #bestfriendsforever #bestie #boundaries #selfrespect #stuck

What's the biggest lesson you've learnt from rejection?? . . Trying to make friends used to be a NIGHTMARE. Just the thought of walking up to a stranger to start a conversation - they could think: . 😰 I'm weird and creepy 😰 not cool enough to talk to 😰 I'm bothering them . And guess what? These things have ALL happened to me 😭 . And it could have been SO easy to just give up, accept that maybe I'll always be weird and bothering people, so I should just quit. 💢 . . . But every time a conversation went badly, I didn't tell myself, "you suck for being creepy". I asked myself, "what could I do better?" 🤔 . And with each rejection, I improved bit by bit in each conversation. . . . I managed to figure out: 🥳 how to start conversations in a natural, fun way 🙌 what makes someone comfortable or uncomfortable 👬the qualities I value in a friendship ⭐ why having a bad conversation can actually be better . I had to learn to get really good at being rejected, to learn how to improve my conversation skills, and ultimately learn how to easily make friends I value. . . . To start meeting more people and making friends, start more conversations, even if it means you may ultimately fail and get rejected. Your ego might initially take a bit, but you'll find it amazing in the long run ✨ . (and if you're struggling with figuring out these lessons for yourself, send me a DM, I might be able to help 👍) . . . #rejection #friend #friendship #conversation #socialskills #confidence #lifelesson #selfhelp

Movies, music concerts, events, travelling - I used to miss out on so much, simply because I was TOO SCARED TO GO BY MYSELF. . 🚩"It's weird to go to events by yourself" 🚩"It's dangerous to be alone" 🚩"It would be embarrassing and lonely" . A few years ago, I took a plunge and saw one of my favourite bands by myself when I had no-one to go with - and it was INCREDIBLE 🤯! . . . Here's what I learnt: . ✈️ organising travel plans, food, tickets and timing is WAY easier! There's no compromising, conflict of interests or disputes - I get to call all the shots! . 📈 problem solving and self-reliance got levelled up! By organising and deciding everything myself, I got better and better at handling any problem that came my way! . ✌️ people really didn't care if I was alone or not. Noone called me a loner or a loser. In fact, everyone around me was just glad to have a chat with another fellow fan! . 🎶 I got to completely enjoy the concert. I didn't have to worry about travel companions, I just sang at the top of my lungs and danced all night without a care. . ❤️ I learnt to love myself. I loved how reliable I became, I learnt to be ok with and learn from any mistake I made, and slowly discover how rewarding it is to do things purely for myself. . . . Nowadays, I go see my favourite bands several times a year and take the occasional trip on a plane - all solo. And it's incredible. . So if a travel opportunity arises or your favourite band comes to visit - try flying solo - it's an amazing experience. ✨ . . . Have you (not) seen a concert by yourself before? I'd love to hear about your experiences! ⬇️

It's great that people on Patreon/OF etc are able to earn an income, but it does come down to the individual in the end. If someone is happy to subscribe or support someone, awesome! We don't need to be a simp to support someone's work 👍 Additionally, just because someone is single or in a relationship, it shouldn't be the factor that defines if we support them or not. If someone wants to support a creator just BECAUSE they're single, it sounds like they've got a bit of work to do on themselves 🤔

Almost 4 years later this is still INCREDIBLY helpful. I’m building a Link cosplay (this is my first time) and the boots were kind of intimidating at first. Random question; about how much fabric did you need to cover the boots? I’m thinking that a yard or maybe 3/4 of a yard would be plenty but I’m not sure.

I'd say 1m X 1m fabric would be sufficient for a single boot, so doing 2 boots would require around 2m? (~2.5 yards?)

Hi, first of all: great Tutorial. But i have a question. How did you made the cape? Like, how does it need to be cut or sewn to work out this good? Because at the moment i just have a straight up square/rectangle and I'm not sure how i can make it look like an actual cape. Espacialy with the hood.
@mangalphantom
@mangalphantom Жыл бұрын
Tbh, I ended up borrowing a friend's cape made better than mine - but theirs was made like so: Rectangle piece of material, gathered and tightened around a piece of cord around the neck (the same way you tighten pants with cord). The hood is then sewn onto the gathered cape, and fur added to the outside of the hood. I don't have a tutorial on it myself, but grab any cape+hood sewing pattern and it'll work just fine 👍

I was one. People got upset that I kept messaging people and trying to ask to do photography with them. I literally had no experience with being respectful and my self confident was very low I was called out and people got upset. I understand that people don’t know me personally, and I tried to address everything but then I failed. Then I took a break from conventions and now I am bringing people along. I wish I knew sooner that bringing people to conventions is better than trying to make friends. You have people that know you more. I have a friend that loves demon slayer and we are cosplaying as tanjiro and nezuko Now I started to text less on social media and text people that I see every day. I did change for the best. I already know that nowadays people are going groups so that they feel safer from people with bad behavior
