My dad did his National Service at the REME depot in Grantown on Spey in 1948/49 and had nothing but good memories of the place. In his stories, he would imitate the train guard, calling out the station names as they approached the stops in the dead of night. He particularly enjoyed wrapping his tongue around "Boat of Garten!" and "Grantown-on-Spey!". A city boy from Newcastle upon Tyne, he fell in love with beautiful Strathspey.

It was great getting the bridge rebuilt, but getting back to Grantown has still a long and difficult journey yet, unfortunately.

Donald and Douglas happily pulled their coaches back and forth across the countryside. The Strathspey Railway was a nice change of scenery. Green fields went on and on for what seemed like forever, and birds chirped happily as they passed. Their new parts felt wonderful after they had been away for five long years. "These new parts are just what we've been needing!" Donald said. "Aye, that they are!" Douglas replied. "We're running like clockwork now!" the two engines tooted happily as children waved and cheered to see the twins puffing along the line. It was lots of fun taking passengers back and forth, but they looked forward to their return to Sodor.

If you mean why it's not been running is because we have been replacing her warn parts with new ones and she's been given a lick of paint she is still blue with the Caledonian crest. She just needs a test polish and she'll be ready to go for 26/3/17

It is great that the railway is coming to Grantown on Spey, the only thing i cannot work out is how the railway line on the Broomhill side which sits much lower than the A95 is going to meet the old trackbed on the other side where the bridge where the old trackbed falls away is much higher up.
