We opened for them in 1967 and sat in the catwalk when they came on, which was really close and only a few feet above them. Brian wasn't with them in those days, but with Bruce they were as tight as a nats rear end. There weren't monitors at Lagoon in Salt Lake where they loved to play, but we were so close that we heard that live vocal 'bark' that they had. It was THRILLING!

I just listened to this song again. I saw him at Angel Stadium on July 3rd, 1976. The Beach Boys/America were the headliners. But hearing Dennis sing this still brings tears to my eyes. He didn't know me by name, but we were just "hey how are you" kinda friends when I was roller skating up and down the bike path in Venice and Santa Monica. I miss him still.
