Thanks very much from across the pond 314 Pickleball. The pump on my SLK 280 has just died and I'm going to replace it myself. This video helps a lot. The replacement pump cost me £8.50 from Amazon UK ($10.85) which was a nice surprise. 😊👍

Thanks for the great video. The official guide suggests not letting the rack's bottom touch the bumper, which I'm not sure why. When I put it on the well of the license plate of my Forester it dent it as one side of the bike is heavier. I would like to try setting the bottom of the rack on the bumper but I'm a bit worried about denting the bumper. Could you give me some suggestions? Thank you!

Thanks very much! It's tricky, the design of this rack although great overall, that bottom part was not designed to avoid denting the vehicle due to the pressure and weight of bikes. The only remedy is to put a ton of foam duct taped around that section to spread the pressure and weight so it can't do that. I hope that helps. Either durable pipe foam from Home Depot or durable packing foam for shipping and put multiple layers. Have a great weekend!

Also I put 2 layers I would suggest 4 layers of foam to avoid denting.

Technically this isn't Mortimer Pickleball because whoever is playing the mortimer position must stay in the back and only return lobs and shots down the middle.

I want to express my gratitude for creating and sharing the KZfaq video detailing the repair of your Mercedes Benz's plastic problem. The video helped me fix the same issue with my vehicle, saving me $2,500 in repair costs. Your video is much appreciated, and I am now a huge fan of your content. 30:25

I personally didn't notice any issues, at least how I positioned it in video. The biggest issue was pressure from lower bar on trunk lid, so I put the foam and I would put even extra foam than I did to avoid denting.

My SLK350 sometimes gets stuck in reverse gear. It's the same as yours. But when I turn off the engine and restart it, it's normal again. Did you end up changing the gear seat or just cleaning it to solve the problem?
@314pickleball
@314pickleball Ай бұрын
I made sure to remove any and all debris which took some time and filed the edges of shifter so it would not cause more plastic to shear off and jam up the mechanisms inside shifter again. Still working perfectly since cleaning out. At first it happened, then it worked normally then happened again so the plastic chunks will move temporarily but then fall back in and jam it up again. I hope it helps :)

Thank you so much for this very helpful video! I have a new Crosstrek Wilderness and the Yakima installation instructions were not very clear. When I looked up my hub setting online it was recommended at 2" which sits the top bar on the windshield wiper! I went to 3" but it looks like yours sits even higher than that. I guess I need to play around with it some more. I called Yakima but got tired of waiting on hold, maybe will try to email them. I also wasn't crazy about the heavy plastic resting directly on the bumper and unfortunately did end up getting a scratch. I will look for the heavy foam you recommended so I can avoid that in the future.

You're very welcome :) Thank you! Yeah I agree it's not a great fitting and that hard plastic bar dented the trunk lid so thick foam is a must. Let me know how it goes, have a wonderful day!

Is there any chance to know where i can buy only this spare part? (Solenoid?) Thanks again dude.

@67694

Is it that 2 prong fork that you lifted and I assume you place the plastic L over it? Lifting it though was the thing that released that last piece of yellow plastic right?
@314pickleball
@314pickleball 3 ай бұрын
@@67694 Hi I apologize for the delay KZfaq is not sending me notifications!! The black elbow goes in first then the metal fork goes over it and rests and secures on the plastic where the solenoid will be installed...the solenoid is installed which holds that fork down so the elbow doesn't fall out. I hope that helps, but likely you have figured it out by now!

@314pickleball
@314pickleball 2 ай бұрын
@@Montana10842 It's hard to explain, but the metal fork holds the plastic elbow/lever in place with the addition of the solenoid being screwed in place holds it in fully. It's tricky to carefully place the metal fork and elbow into position so just play around with it until it sits perfectly where it needs to be, then secure solenoid back in place.

Hi, not sure. Mine was stuck in D and N. I could not move to R or P. I am not a certified mechanic, but you could remove the shifter and see if the shift rod moves properly. If so then it's something with the shifter. It is possible plastic pieces are lodged inside and causing the problem.

@@shawalkassim800any progress on your situation? Mine was stuck in drive and neutral. Definitely felt like an obstruction though. Drove it home, turned the car off in neutral. Popped the E brake, took my foot off the brake pedal. Searched and read some slk forum posts... Looked back down at the shifter and decided to try one more time and bam’ she shifted into park! Not sure if the problem will come back. I think I will clean out the plastic debris as well by taking out and cleaning shifter.

Pickleball...I am no expert but you should ask your landlord to reposition the 204V plug into the correct orientation. The box is designed to be completely closed to keep water out. I can see with a strong rain storm water getting to the plug and frying the whole unit. And as I assume you did the unit needs to be secured to the wall or a mounting plate of some kind that is secured to the wall.

Thank you for the comment. It's odd, I agree, and I mentioned this to them, but they weren't that friendly about changing it and said they will not secure the chargepoint to wall and that I have to remove it after charging. I look forward to living on my own property so I can install this properly. There is a chance we return the Solterra and charger because the car isn't getting anywhere near the range in ECO mode with no A/C or heat, temperatures in the 60s and driving conservatively. Still running tests to see what mileage it's actually getting in different situations.
