I've said it before but your nature is so peaceful to watch. I feel like if I was a pigeon I'd wait all day with my family by the park bench just so I can enjoy a breadcrumb from the most pleasant human being in England. Coo... Silliness aside, always a pleasure watching your videos, keep up the excellent work. Ps great pacing as always 🎥 as you film the toys, gives is time to really enjoy them 😊 I uploaded a vid recently, have a nosy if u feel like it, it's only short😊 But no pressure! Take care😄

"I feed the pigeons, I sometimes feed the sparrows too, it gives me a sense of enormous wellbeing. And then I'm happy for the rest of the day, safe in the knowledge there will always be a bit of my heart devoted to it" - your comment reminded me of this classic Blur lyric !! 🤘 Thanks for your kind words and feedback. I will definitely take.a look at your vid!! 👍

Lovely job VTR. Another vintage toy saved! Repro v original, that's an interesting and a very divisive discussion! Things, like you say, are never black and white. What do you want, a toy that's almost broken but factory 'fresh' or a toy that's been repaired with new parts that make it work. For me, I'm with the latter. You'd certainly be a brave man to do a video on the subject!
@VintageToyRush16 күн бұрын
Thanks Dez!! 👍 I'd love to have a conversation on repro cause I think it's a broad topic touching on all aspects of collecting. But that conversation has always been focused on pro vs anti repro and as you say it that leads to divisive discussion (and abuse) very quickly! 😎

An absolutely fascinating video, Dave. Incredibly entertaining to watch and also very relaxing. Very well produced, sir. I would love to have seen what you might have done had you not had yours to use as a template for repair. 😂 And as far as the repro or original parts thing goes, I think you should do whatever you want and other people should just mind their own damned business. It's just toys. Thanks for a great watch and sharing the journey with us on this one. You have way more patients than I do!
@VintageToyRush16 күн бұрын
Hey Paul!! 🤘 Ha, so what you're saying is you want to see me struggle even more 🤣 I'm pretty sure I would have got there without the reference, but it's surprising how difficult it can be sometimes to re-assemble things. That's why I always take pictures as I'm disassembling! As for repro, I'd love to do a deeper dive video but it's such a divisive subject!! Cheers 👍

This is genuinely so relaxing watching this, I’ve often found fixing and repair toys relaxing but tend to only tackle smaller jobs. Why did I never know that they had mini record players in these things lol. Amazing stuff Dave as always Also no harm in replacing the electric band etc, it’s like people going crazy over new o-rings in Gi Joe figures, nothing wrong with it imo etc, for me I’ll rather have a working item or Gi Joe that actually stands etc
@VintageToyRush16 күн бұрын
Thanks Adam! 👍 Quite a few of them had record players - like the Imperial Troop Transport, KITT etc and yeah, replacement o-rings are no go for some!! All depends on context! 🤘

I myself don't care what other people think or say. I always used reproductive parts if I couldn't find or afford original parts for restoring my toys as long as you get it to work properly and you are happy with the results. That's what counts. It turned out great, Dave!....
@VintageToyRush16 күн бұрын
Cheers Lee! 🤘 Absolutely, do what you need to do 👍 I would do a deeper dive video on the subject, but I just know it'll end with abuse! even though I'm neither pro and or anti-repro 😎

Interesting restoration video! These record players look like a nightmare to reverse engineer. Good that you had a version near hand that was not disassembled. Looking forward to see how you will restore that other R2 with 3D printed parts! I think that 'spring button' on the record player can certainly be printed.. Wil take some testing to get the right 'spring tension' on the part of the button that acts as a spring. I would start by laying it down on a flatbed scanner (in combination with measuring ofcourse) and trace the contours in my cad program. Than slice the drawing of the piece in half to print without supports. 3d prints can be glued with CA glue. I have printed many buttons and restoration pieces on my machine at home. If I can help out with anything on your restoration, feel free to let me know!

Great video Dave, and I agree on the repro grey area. It's all about context, you can't just sit in one camp with your fingers in your ears, which seems to be the case with vintage star wars.
