what would say is the recommended age for pieces to put into the portfolio? like how many yrs ago you made things

The pieces should definitely be from high school! I think a general rule of thumb is that the more recent the better

you seriously just saved my stress when u said some colleges don't require portfolios😭😭. I've always been interested in architecture but I did mostly science classes in school so I don't have the portfolio I wanted to build, but I WILL NOW THIS SUMMER!

Yes, my high school had a year-long architecture class. I also attended two architecture summer programs (UPENN and Syracuse). I would look into universities that offer architecture summer programs for high school students, or even if you can email asking to check out the studios!

I’m starting to do basics on architecture for preparation for college. My question is would digital sketches be good as well along side my physical drawings and builds.

Yes, I think so! I would lean more heavily on the physical/hand drawings though, but I think a couple of your best works would be okay to show your creative range.

Learn to absorb everything, learn from your professors, peers, and online resources. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and dive deep! Building a good support system is important, too. I could make a whole video about this but that’s for starters :) Architecture is a TOUGH major and struggling a lot is a big part of it. But, you will be surrounded by some of the most creative, ambitious, and thoughtful people, and that alone is very inspiring.

I love this theme! My March theme was, "Things That Like Windows" because I had a lot of house plants and cats stickers. Then I sketched in window sills for them to lay on. It reminds me a lot of this theme. 💖💖
